Got home yesterday, and guess who was waiting on my doorstep........my 2 favorite men!! MiG and Daughtry. Guys, I have to be honest about this CD. The rock covers aren't doing anything for me (maybe I love ROCK too much), they seem watered-down to me. BUT, the 3 originals blow my mind! I can listen to them over and over and definitely think they would fit very well with mainstream radio. I think "She Loved" and "Could It Be" would do well as singles. They are fresh and vibrant. I really hope MiG makes it big with his originals, they far surpass the pop/rock covers. I think this is why THIS album has been referred to as a concept LP - - not watered down, but rock classics re-written for an orchestral arrangement. Personally, I think this is brilliant & love it. It seems the mistake most make is assuming these covers should sound like "rock"-- sound more like the original. I think this LP is being marketed to the wrong group of people???
Me? well, I guess I walk around with my head in the sand cause I don't remember the originals SO I LOVE THESE! I have gone back to hear the original versions now and cause I heard MiG do them 1st, guess what? LOL I LOVE MiG's version better.
I agree that MiG's originals are OUTSTANDING.... partly because we aren't comparing them to someone else?
Just thinking out loud, that's all.

I didn't expect this album to be "rock". I knew it was a concept album with orchestral arrangements. I did anticipate them to be a bit more rearranged, much like BILYW was, moreso actually. I think that would be have been more acceptable to some fans of those classics. Maybe, maybe not. Can't please everyone I'm ready for an all MiG original album. #please# #fingerscrossed#

As was said, you can't please everyone. I will say that I actually remember hearing the originals of most of the cover songs when they were new. There were a few of them I didn't like when performed by the original artists... Can't Find My Way Home comes to mind right off the bat, but I am absolutely in LOVE with MiG's version. I had never heard Waterloo Sunset until I bought a cover cd by Def Leppard this time last year and it was on there. I thought it was an interesting song but I wasn't impressed. MiG's version is faster and has more "meat" to the sound and it's definately better than the Kinks version (which I heard recently). I am totally in awe of MiG's three originals on this CD and, like most everyone else, I'm also ready for an ALL MiG original cd. And before anyone thinks I LOVE everything MiG does, I have to say that I never cared for Smells Like Teen Spirit... I didn't like the original and, although MiG's version was better than the original, I never cared for the song and still don't. I like good music done well and that's exactly what MiG gives us.

Are you listening to the entire new CD or the sampler? I think all of the songs on the CD have beautifully layered backgrounds. Maybe my stereo works better than yours?
The NBS KNOWs I had wanted MiG to release a rock album & was initially shocked and disappointed when I heard the samples, as I was not expecting what I call "easy listening" music.
I bought the CD (well, several) and have listened to it repeatedly. Each time I do, I think it gets better and better and better.
Fortunately for me, I do like lite rock and "elevator" music. I think MiG's voice is phenominal & the musical arrangements are exquisite.
wtbs, I can't wait for MiG to release an LP of all originals and for me, I would love to see stuff like PIB & LALD. It is probably best for him to avoid covers since he is not an already established artist. Even Rod Stewart got knocked a bit for the covers he recently released.

I went into my local Border's on Saturday, and there was MiG's CD, right out in front in the M category!!! A red sticker on it said "Contains the new single, She Loved!" I was so surprised and happy--I was hoping that a single would be released, but I didn't know about it until then. I agree that the originals are fantastic. "She Loved" is such a great song--it has commercial success written all over it!! Now if it just gets the air play. I can also imagine it as a perfect movie theme song...

Carle, one way to get airplay for a song is to have yourself and everyone you know call in on soft rock radio request lines when they have a request hour.

Should we "try" to supply them with a CD, or will they hunt it down, download it, whatever they do these days? Hey Rose, I don't think you're being confrontational . I was referring to the actual debut CD, which I received earlier this week. I've listened to it again (because I keep playing the originals), and have warmed up to WWTLF.

Hi Guys!! I should find out today about specific songs to request or what to do if the radio station you contact does not already have the CD. Hang tight!! Please refer to the 'Blitz the Airwaves' thread for the details. Thanks!!!

Finally recieved my copies of MiG's cd on Thurs from Amazon. Loved the originals but kinda disapointed there wasn't anything I'd consider "rock" on this album. Elevator music is ok but was expecting more excitment (and being excited ). Won't give up and got extra copies to pass along to friends and family. Looking forward to an all original album in the future. I know my visits have been few and far between, and I miss everybody, but I do lurk sometimes to see how all are doing. #bearhug# #bearhug# #bearhug# Take care, Claudia

HI Claudia! Yes, some people who didn't realize this was a concept album of soft rock covers were a bit disappointed there is no "rock" on the album. But it is a beautiful one as it is. And the originals sort of make up for that! I am sure MiG's next album with his originals will be a lot more exciting and have more varied songs.
