I guess this is the most appropriate thread I could find -- dunno if Kay might consider adding a 'recommending music' thread to keep new and up and coming musicians to their own thread?? Anyway the next time you visit myspace I wonder if you might check out this band: www.myspace.com/harmband the bass guitarist is my daughter's piano teacher!!! kewl!!!! Now grunge isn't for everyone but I'd love to show Ania support by getting their friends numbers up so TM if you're up to it I appreciate your help!!! thanks! hugs gee

Great idea Gee, I created a subboard called New Artists under the Celebration of Music. Feel free to post about the groups in there. Rose can add Steely's info there also Gee, I took a listen to them and it just isn't anything I would listen to. (It was better than rap though) They sounded like they are talented, just not my style #imsorrysign# so I didn't request them because I don't like sorting through bulletins. Hopefully some others here will like that style and put in friend requests. Cool that your daughter has such a talented musician teaching her.

Thank you, Gee and Mary Beth! How cool - your daughter's piano teacher. I'll go check it out!
eta - Gee, they have an interesting sound. I especially liked the music in "One Hit" and "Uncivil Protest." I didn't listen closely to the lyrics so am not sure of the messages, but they sound mighty cool. Nice guitar!

Since I hate being cold, I am recommending a heater, lol. But seriously, we are trying to live more green, and not freeze at the same time. We heard about this very expensive electric heater from a neighbor. But even though it's expensive, it is supposed to draw only as much electricity as a coffee maker, and is able to heat a whole big room. Darrell got one, and it really does work! It can keep the living room comfortable even at one of the lower settings. We will have to check our next bill to see just how much elec. it uses. But...it's $300 - eek!!!! Yet, it will save that much on using less propane this winter, as propane has gone sky-high! The brand is EdenPure, ours is a Gen3 Quartz Infared Portable Heater. I'd love one to have upstairs in the computer room, but at that price I'll have to wait a year or two!

Will do! I am loving it when I can sit in the living room and be comfortable and not all covered up with a quilt!

Rose!!!! So did you ever get one of those heaters? My daughter got the one that is called "Amish Fireplace"...very similar. She loves it but her hubby says he is being burned out of house and home ... she likes it cranked up high, lol. Anyway, we had our thermostat mess up and it wouldn't turn the furnace on. So we only had the Eden Pure heater downstairs and a small quartz heater upstairs...and I gotta say, I'm impressed. The house never got that cold in the 2 days we had no furnace, and we didn't have either one turned all the way up.

Yes we did ;D We ended up getting the Eden Pure to play it safe -- and we are very roasty toasty YAY! We actually have to turn the dang thing's heat down because we are roasting! Thank you so much for posting about this one. If it hadn't been for you, I would never have known about it. #thanx# #clap#

And how about the electric bill??? Ours seems to be up about $25 a month, but that also includes the extra cost of the heat pump. We won't know how much savings on propane we've managed until later this year. Then we can figure out our actual total savings overall. Even if we come out even, it's been a lot warmer in the house, I don't need gloves while upstairs on the computer!!!

Toni, how is that EdenPure workign out 2 years later-did you see a savings?

The ceramic heater is great! It saved us money last year, this year the heat pump needed some reprogramming so can't say. But my grandaughter got a ceramic heater for her apartment and saw huge savings on her electric bill, using the heater in the main room and keeping the elect. heat turned down.
