I only live about 60 miles away from Chillicothe so I am sorta thinking about going but I have to be at work at 5 am the following morning so I don't know if I am going for sure. i would love to see an acoustic Marty concert. Thanks for the update! MB-I'm thinking of going to Chillicothe since it's after Huntington. so I'd be happy to meet you there. It's only about an hour and half from Huntington and since it's a 13 and up show I'm sure it would be over way before 11 p.m. since the next day ius a school day. I plan on taking an 8 x 10 of the picture Cheryl (or maybe it was Joyce) took of me and Marty in Chicago and have him autograph it when he's in Huntington. It's one thing for me to go to a club here in my hometown with people I don't know but I'm a little concerned about going to one an hour and a half away and not knowing anyone.. Let me know, OK. I know Toni also mentioned something about going to Chillicothe as well. Haven't heard her say any more though. Too bad it would be too much of a drive for Jaunty to make the Chillicothe show. It would be a MiGtogether for sure...

Wanda, it might take you 2 hours-it is usually an hour and a half from Ironton to chillitown. I will try to let you know a bit closer. I want to see what the weather is going to be too before I decide. It would prob be 3 and a half hours from Toledo for toni. There are two other acts on so I was afraid he might not go on before 9

There are two other acts on so I was afraid he might not go on before 9 MB-Yes, the trip to Chilicothe would be longer if I drove 52 to 23 but a year of so ago they opened a bypass from Gallipolis to Chillicothe via 35 and it's only about an hour and a half by the bypass cos you don't go through any little towns or anything. 55mph all the way from Gallipolis to Chillitown. It sure cuts the driving time. And Gallipolis is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from my apartment up WV Route 2, mostly 55 all the way there too. That's the way I used when I came up to Columbus in September and also when I went to Cleveland in March. As for the time Marty would go on, you're probably right that it would be at least 9, giving a half-hour to each opener but I would imagine that, with it being a school night and most cities have a curfew for underagers, Marty will probably only do about an hour or so to leave time for the M&G after and getting the kiddies home by 11 or 11:30. I don't know for sure though. There's only one opener here in Huntington so I may have a better idea after that show. And I'm with you with the weather. If it's going to be bad I'm not travelling that far, not even for a friend of MiG's. Also, just to make sure before I showed up with my camera and video camera at the Monkey Bar I sent them an email to their myspace site last night. This is the response I got: ----------------- Original Message ----------------- From: Wanda Date: Nov 30, 2007 3:53 PM I live here in Huntington and am thinking about attending the Marty Casey show on 12-11. I saw Marty in Chicago in August and was wondering if digital cameras and/or video cameras are allowed at the show. Thank you for your response. Wanda YES, YOU CAN BRING IT. THANKS. SEE YOU THEN

I won't know until the Sat. before the Chillitown show because of it being Xmas season. Schedules are slow getting out this time of year. I would have to be off the day after. If I work early thursday and am off (or can trade to be off) we could do it. Just barely, lol. I just wish he was going to be closer, like north of Columbus. Then both me and Jaunty could prolly make it no matter what our schedules.

There are, however, several inexpensive hotels in and nearby Chillitown according to my AAA book. I hope you and Darrell can make it too. I miss my MiG buds between shows, LOL. Keep me posted...

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I bought my ticket for Marty's show tomorrow this evening. I met the Monkey Bar owner and his wife (since they were nice enough to let me come down and get my ticket even though the club isn't open on Mondays and he just happened to be there). The guy has NO CLUE who Marty is but was glad to know it wasn't going to be a hard rock show, LOL...I got in a plug that his place should try to get MiG sometime...I had my little photo album of pix I'm going to give to Marty tomorrow evening at the M&G after the show so I whipped it out and showed him MiG's pictures with Marty from Market Days. He asked me his name and I told him MiG Ayesa. He said, is that Japanese? I told him no, it was Filipino. Then I told him that I would travel anywhere within reason to see MiG and had been to MA, NYC, Cleveland and Chicago to see him. Anyway, just thought I'd check to see if MB and Toni are going to be able to make Chillicothe Thursday or am I going to have to work Thursday and Friday (I asked for those two days off just in case, Toni and MB can make the show). If you're not going to be able to go then I'm not going either. It's one thing to go to a club in your home town to see Marty but another one completely if you have no idea where your going two hours away, LOL.

Poo, sorry to say that I cannot get the time off. I could get to say a 10pm show but still would have to work the next morning!!! So I will have to pass on Chillitown. I really had wanted to see Marty do acoustic, too, and have fun with my team mig pals. But this is such a bad time of year for getting time off, and we are more shorthanded than usual.

I survived the Monkey Bar and had a wonderful time while I was at it. I have to say I'm glad I decided to wear the shirt I made with a picture of Marty and Mig from market Days on it. It definately grabbed attention...first from Mr. Casey himself following his soundcheck and then from a couple people from one of Marty's forums who came up to me and asked if I was on Team MiG because someone had posted that a friend of theirs would be going to the show. To say the least the show was awesome and I will post more later today when I can gather my thoughts but it was really fun to hang out with Marty BEFORE and AFTER the show... I don't know how my pictures will turn out because it was very dark although Marty was under a white spotlight but he was dressed in black and wearing a hat. If I didn't get good pix the girl who was there for her birthday with her husband and son got some great ones and we're going to exchange pictures. Anyway, I'm off to work on a surprise for Team MiG so I will recap more later today. Oh, and Marty did a nice combination of originals and covers. I don't think I can remember them all but just to name a few, Mr. Brightside, Lithium, I Alone, Wish You Were Here and my personal fave, Baby, One More Time. His originals were a couple new ones, one called Just Go (gorgeous song) and the other I think is called Drive On plus several from the cd-Clouds, Hold On, The Riddle and, of course, Trees...Hmmm, that may actually have been all the songs he did. He had a very small and intimate crowd (less than 50) because there was a big concert going on at the civic arena. Anyway, I'll definately write more later today. Enjoy this little tidbit until then.
(Had to go back and edit my spelling errors)

(Had to go back and edit my spelling errors) Now to add to this: The doorman took pity on me cos I was by myself and had gotten there early (way early, like an hour and a half before the doors were to open-I didn't know what time they were going to open for what was supposed to be an 8 p.m. start time). He didn't want me standing outside the door by myself or sitting in my car for another hour and a half so he told me to come in and "plant yourself at the bar." Marty was doing his sound check and I didn't recognize him at first because, not only was he wearing a camo cap but he'd cut his hair...SHORT....it took me a few minutes to register that it was Marty. It wasn't until he played a little of Hold On before singing a verse of Mr. Brightside that I realized who it was. The two opening acts were there waiting to do their warm ups too. When Marty finished his soundcheck I was sitting at the bar where I had been talking with the bartender, mostly sharing stories about MiG, LOL, but she had stepped away to continue getting things ready for the doors to open. Marty asked me how I was then looked closely at my shirt and said, "That was at Halstead, wasn't it?" And we talked a little about that show then I told him I had been asked by all my friends at TM to come represent them at a show I was already planning on attending anyway and that I had been more than happy to represent Team MiG at his set. I had put together a little photo album of pictures from Market Days from that show and I apologize for not asking permission from the Team MiG members whose pictures I printed from the gallery to include in the book (Kay, Cammy, Jaunty) but it was a spur of the moment thing. I will tell you that Marty was very touched, especially when I told him that the pictures were taken by several Team MiG members. I'm not sure who took the picture but one of the pictures I included was a fabulous close-up of MiG and Marty standing side by side and singing...basically a head shot... but when Marty saw the picture he said, "This is an awesome shot, thank you so much for making this for me." I told him how much I had enjoyed the show in Chicago and looked forward to the acoustic show. I also told him that one of my favorite songs he performed on RS was when he stepped outside his box to which he grinned and looked at me sideways then smiled really big when I told him I loved his take on Britney. He then said, "You'll hear it tonight!" I took a deep breath and asked him if he would do a little exclusive surprise for MiG and Team MiG, kind of holding my breath for his answer. He said, "Sure. Be happy to but it'll have to be after." I told him I certainly didn't expect him to do it right then and we both laughed then he said, "Well, I gotta go get showered and all prettied up so I'll see you a little later and we'll do something down and dirty for Team MiG." He'd been gone about five minutes when they opened the doors. I was still sitting at the bar talking to the bartender when a girl came up to place an order for her and her two friends. She saw my shirt and said, "You're with Team MiG, right?" I asked her how she knew and she said someone had posted on one of Marty's boards that I would be representing TM at the Monkey Bar. She told me she and one of her friends were actually from a nearby state and one friend who was having a birtday was from North Carolina so they decided to bring her to see Marty in Huntington. She said they'd seen, I think, four of the shows he had done so he probably thought they were stalking him. Right after that, Monica (the lady who was there with her husband and son) for her birthday (yes, 2 birthday girls) walked up to me and asked about my t-shirt. Turns out she was from Beckley (about 2 hours away) and was there to support one of the first opening act cos he was a hometown boy but mostly to see Marty cos she'd never seen him live. I ended up sitting directly in front of Marty for the whole show right beside Monica and her family. We had a great time. Anway, Marty took the stage at about 10:45 and played til a little after midnight. He said that if anyone had a question to just yell it out between songs and he would answer them. I don't remeber the order he did the songs in but I remember some of the questions. A lady asked him to play Hold On and he told the story of why he wrote the song. I already loved that song but it's even more touching now that I know the story. Suffice it to say it's got a similar reason for being written to MiG's Home In Me. Someone asked him if he was still friends with the RS Rockers. He said they weren't penpals or anything but they really enjoyed it when the had a chance to get together. Someone else asked him how Suzie was doing and he said she was really excited because one of her songs was chosen by one of the sponsors for the Canadian Olympics in 2010 plus he and Suzie had written a song that she took and turned into a Christmas song and he was tickled with that. Someone made the comment that she thought Suzie had ridden his coattails part of the show and he immediately answered that Suzie was an amazing talent in her own right and he didn't think she road anyone's coattails, to which the person said, well she did have the best voice of any of the women on RS. Monica's husband asked him if he would have been happy if he had won RS. He said yes because he would have done exactly what he told them he would, he would have taken their music in a different direction from what they had done in the past. He also made the comment that "Rockstar was the most fun thing he had ever done that he would never do again." Sound familiar? He finished the night with Trees and invited the birthday girls up on stage to do the song with him. There was also a lady that had asked him if she could come up and sing Trees with him and he'd told her that she sure could when it came time to do the song. He asked if the birthday girls were ready to come up and sing with him (they were as well as the lady who asked earler). All three ladies got up there to sing with him and he got so tickled at one point that he just put his head down and let them sing the line. This has gotten really long and I apologize for that so I'll hold off on the short little recap of the meet and greet til a little later today. *eta- Marty gave several shouts out to TM during his show, especially after he did Baby, One More Time. He also played a Dixie on the guitar then commented that we had no idea how long it took him to learn that. As soon as he did that someone yelled out , "Do some Skynnard" followed by "Sweet Home, Alabama." Marty played the opening few bars then said, "That's all I know of it."
