How cool would this be??? Where is Carol D?? www.mattcollins.org/2008/06/june-20-2008.htmlFriday, June 20, 2008 June 20, 2008 While American Idol winner and STAR Artist David Cook is on the road with the American Idols Live tour, he'll also be writing and recording his debut CD, and he's just gotten a nice offer of a collaboration from another STAR Artist. Last night in New York City, Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik told us that he's really hoping to collaborate with David on some songs. So why does the guy who wrote "Iris" want to write songs with the winner of a TV reality show? Johnny said, "'Cause he's real, he plays the guitar, he's got a cool voice, he seems like a regular guy, so...why not?"For Joyce......... STAR Artist Gavin DeGraw will kick off a headlining summer tour June 27th in Louisville, Kentucky. Gavin did some shows earlier this year, but this is his first full-fledged tour in support of his self-titled second CD, which has spun off the hit "In Love With A Girl." Gavin's opening acts on the tour will include singer-songwriters Marie Digby and Landon Pigg. You can head down to Six Flags Great America July 13th to see him live!

What an amazing story. I will never listen to that song in quite the same way. That song is truly a testament to the human spirit. so sad about poor little Isabella and all she and her family have gone through. Definitely shows the power of love though. They have lived through the loss of so many dreams. Wonder if he will make enough off the sale of this song to become successful again and do the work he loves and take care of his little ones.

Thanks for sharing this story with us! I've always thought is was a great song, but now I think it's a very special song! I'm surprised someone didn't tell the songwriter that his song was going to be featured at the Olympics. I'm so glad they didn't miss it!

From Chris Sligh's (AI Season 6) blog............ Tuesday, August 19, 2008 David Cook I hung out and wrote with Luke Menard today. He told me a story that I got his permission put on here. Luke Menard found out he had cancer the week of the finale. 2-3 days before David Cook performed in the finale, trying to win Idol, he took time to come to Luke's hospital room in L.A. I can tell you from experience that the final 2 don't have time to use the restroom, nonetheless break away to see a friend in the hospital. So, that sacrifice alone says a lot about the dude. But this story blew me away: Luke recently did a fundraising concert to help pay for his mounting medical bills. So, his hometown put on a concert to help pay for said bills, and Luke performed. David Cook sent a signed guitar as a donation to be sold in the auction. Nice enough, right. Then, as the concert/auction/fundraiser was starting, David called and told Luke to let the audience know that whatever they bought the guitar for, he would match personally dollar for dollar. And he did. Now, David didn't pay off Luke's bills...he still needs help...but that act of sacrifice was pretty incredible, and, to me, says what kind of guy David is. Hey, in my first EW blog I questioned if he came across as cocky. But, speaking as someone who is misread a great deal, I have a feeling David is misread also. So...just a little story. posted by ChrisSligh @ 4:42 PM 28 comments frommymindtoyoureyes.blogspot.com/2008/08/david-cook.htmlWow!! David is quite an amazing guy!!!

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- The City of Blue Springs unveiled a mural on Friday in honor of native son American Idol David Cook.
Cook is in town for the American Idols Live Tour on Friday and Saturday at the Sprint Center. Members of Cooks family attend the mural unveiling in downtown Blue Springs along Main Street. But, city officials weren't sure if Cook would be able to make it himself.
Cook did, in fact, make his way to Blue Springs on Friday. He watched the unveiling with tears in his eyes. (Watch the video)

FOX 4 was there and presented Cook with a gift from a group of fans called the "Cook Chatter Girls." It was a massive slab of granite with David's name, a picture of a guitar and the name of every fan who contributed. (Watch the video)
The fans sent the gift to FOX 4 and we were able to present it to David. He also received a booklet and letters from all the fans. He was very touched, thanking the fans as our cameras rolled.
