I am very saddened and shocked to learn of the passing of Michael Jackson. He was an icon and he will be missed. I'm truly at a loss for words. I thought he was an awesome entertainer. I had wanted to see him in London in July - now I'll never get a chance to see him.

So it's been confirmed? The last I heard on CNN was that no one was saying. I agree, weird or not, he was an icon and a great songwriter, very talented for someone who had suffered the kinds of things he did at the hands of a Stage Father as a child. He will definately be missed. As will Farrah Fawcett who passed away this morning at 9:28 a.m. My prayers go out to thier families, friends and fans.

Very sad news, indeed. Michael's passing was so unexpected. His was a great talent, no matter his personal life.

In the past 24 hours, Michael Jackson has 18 of the top 20 best selling albums on amazon.com and all of the top 15. Simply amazing.

I also read somewhere that his 50 shows that were planned were all sold out...of course, I don't know if that's true. I feel bad for his family, especially the kids. He was a big part of their lives.

Toni, they ALL sold out in a matter of minutes. I think it was something like 12 minutes. Now the promotors have to refund all of that money. I wonder who underwrote that tour. They've got to be freaking right now.

Betcha these concerts would have gotten him pretty much out of debt, and it shows you that his music transcends any adverse personal publicity. Anyway, I think the frantic sales of his catalog of music will alleviate any debt that is on his estate. I certainly hope that his estate will be able to take care of the support of his children.

If his actual debt is around $400mm as being reported, the massive world wide sales of his CDs happening now coupled with his ownership of the Beatles Music Catalog could really help wipe that debt out. Maybe not all of it, but certainly a good portion of it. I would hate to see his children inherit that debt.

My mother heard a rumor that in Michael's Will, he said that he would give the Beatles music back to Paul. I have not heard about this. She thinks that maybe they will do a tribute concert but I can't imagine that they would do it in London. It's not surprising to me that the 50 shows sold out in a couple of minutes. I'm still very upset and shocked over this...

It is very sad to hear of the possibility that misuse of prescription drugs may have contributed to his death. It's so sad that such talented people can be so unhappy that they need to depend on various drugs to get by.

I wonder how big the tribute concert would be. I also think it would be nice to include those who have participated in the current MJ tribute that has been in the UK for a few years.
*by 'big', I mean length and number of participants, of course it will be huge in the sense of popularity and sales, lol.

Toni, I think the article said that there are so many stars that have contacted them expressing interest in participating that they might need to stretch it to two parts. I would think something like this would be 4 to 6 hours in broadcast length and still be able to hold our attention.
It would be highly emotional and highly entertaining at the same time.

Nancy, I was watching America's Got Talent, and they just had on a singer from Chicago...I'm no fan of country music, but he was fantastic, he sounded like any of the best country singers I've ever heard!
