Here's the YouTube from Gavin's appearance on Letterman last night! I really liked what Dave had to say about Gavin at the beginning. It's obvious he is a fan.

Hey I'm in the Chicago area right now in a town called Joliet. The venue is really gorgeous inside. Its a historic building so every detail in the place has been done well and I'm looking forward to seeing what it sounds like in there. The shows we did overseas were such an experience and we've had some really exciting ones since returning. Man we were all over the place for a while there; travelled all over Europe having the greatest time playing shows and taking loads of pictures. Then I split out to Japan for some more fun and games.
Speaking of fun and games, I didn't realize that the EU soccer (football) matches were going on while we were in Europe and we had travelled by train from Munich Germany to Zurich Switzerland, soaking in the scenic views of the countryside and the Alps, and when we arrived in Zurich it was the craziest most fanatical sporting experience of all time...people just everywhere you looked, drinking and singing songs of victory for their teams. All the European nations sporting fans travelled there to be part of the action and it was so much fun to watch them go bananas for their teams.
Well I'm gonna run. Have a good one and I'll see you on tour. And ps...thanks for routing for me like those sports fans! luv you guys.
Gavin

Joyce,
Did you know that Gavin performed last night in South Carolina with DJ AM and Travis Barker before their plane crash? The news confirmed that Gavin was NOT on the plane and he's fine. But, 4 people died in the crash and Travis and DJ AM are in critical condition with severe burns among other injuries. It's a miracle they're alive.
It's been on the news alot today and all the reports confirm that Gavin was NOT on that plane.

It's been on the news alot today and all the reports confirm that Gavin was NOT on that plane. Yes, I did hear about that! What a tragedy. It is a miracle that those two survived. Hope they are going to be OK. I got a Google Alerts message with links to about a dozen articles about it this morning. By that time, they had already confirmed that Gavin wasn't on the plane. #whew# Gavin will be performing in Tempe on Monday night. I wanted to go, but the venue doesn't sound that great, and I can't get away from work right now anyhow. However, he is performing at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas next month! I would love to see that, but not sure if I can make it happen yet. I haven't given up though.

09/17/2008 11:22 AM BATON ROUGE - Join LSU head coach Les Miles, Mike the Tiger, the LSU cheerleaders and Tiger Girls at Gold Fest on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in advance of the Tiger football team kicking off the Southeastern Conference home schedule that Saturday in Tiger Stadium. Gold Fest, which was originally scheduled to be a part of LSU Homecoming 2008 before Hurricane Gustav forced the rescheduling of Homecoming festivities to Nov. 9-15, features a powerhouse concert by two of today's hottest musical stars, hip-hop artist Sean Kingston and singer-songwriter .... [glow=red,2,300]Gavin DeGraw[/glow]Fans are also encouraged to wear gold to the Mississippi State game that Saturday to amp up the excitement as LSU attempts to defend its BCS National Championship. Sean Kingston's cut, "Beautiful Girls," made history with one of the fastest ascents up the charts ever. Following that, the singer/rapper scored two more top 10 hits including "Me Love" and "Take You There." His blend of hip hop, reggae, pop and doo-wop creates a refreshing musical style. The 18-year-old Kingston prefers to use creativity instead of profanity in his songwriting. He has sold more than three million digital singles, more than three million ringtones and has toured with artists like Gwen Stefani, Chris Brown and Kelly Clarkson. Kingston was also featured on Natasha Bedingfield's hit "Love Like This." In fact, his own "Take You There" and "Love Like This" climbed the radio and iTunes charts together giving him back-to-back hits in January. Gavin DeGraw is a talent who, in just a few years, has become one of today's premier singer-songwriters. Selling more than a million copies and earning platinum certification, his first album, "Chariot," yielded three hit singles "I Don't Want To Be," "Follow Through" and the title-track, "Chariot." "I Don't Want To Be," was chosen as the theme song for the hit television show, "One Tree Hill."
His new, self-titled release, "Gavin DeGraw," has more of a rock flavor without being a hard rock album. The first single, "In Love With A Girl," finds DeGraw crooning about the security of being in a relationship. It is a quintessential rock jam that amplifies DeGraw's ubiquitous themes of romance and is a perfect introduction to the new sound of his latest album.Gold Fest is sponsored by LSU Homecoming 2008, LSU athletics and Cox Communications. Tickets are $6 for LSU students and $11 for all others. Tickets are available at the LSU athletics ticket office or at www.lsu.edu/homecoming. Groups of 30 or more may receive a group discount by e-mailing homecoming@lsu.edu.

Riza, that sounds cool. Were you planning to go? I don't see that listed on his tour schedule right now. I wonder if it was cancelled for some reason? #IDunno# Here's a video and review from his concert in Tempe on Monday night. Sounds like it was a great evening! I love his interaction with the crowd starting halfway through the song. High spirits with Gavin DeGraw at the Marqueeby Maria Verso - Sept. 23, 2008 03:33 PM Special to The Arizona Republic As a ghoulish point of interest, Gavin DeGraw was rumored to have been on the plane that killed four people and critically injured former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM Friday in Columbia, South Carolina. Barker, DJ AM and Perry Farrell, also rumored to be on board, had just performed at a free T-Mobile-sponsored show which Gavin DeGraw headlined. I know what you're saying, "Wow, Gavin DeGraw headlined a show with Perry Farrell?" Yes, and at Monday night's Gavinpalooza stop at Tempe's Marquee Theatre, there was no mention of the crash or South Carolina or Ol' Man Reaper, just broad smiles and relief to be, as DeGraw put it "with people who want to be together." In case you missed his appearances on TV teen drama One Tree Hill where he performed his signature song and the show's theme I Don't Want to Be, DeGraw is an unassuming yet handsome guy who looks like he might be working at a newsstand if he didn't possess such a fluid voice and a melodic songwriting ability (he in fact actually WAS a newsstand clerk before making it big). Monday, he performed in customary cap, jeans and a brownish grey t-shirt that took about 100 squints and several trips to stage right and left to discern whether the faded, ghostly nearly machine washed out image was John Lennon or the Virgin Mary. Conclusion: not the latter, maybe the former. The only overt stab at image making was DeGraw's backdrop, an ersatz Aerosmith logo of a record with wings with Gavin's name in the same font as The Gap logo. A subtle way of saying "We'll rock you like a clothing chain" or perhaps "Let the music do the talking, fashion be d**ned," you decide. Before Gavin took the stage, the band came out to a recording of Join Together by the Who and if you're like me, you were thinking "Why are they inviting comparisons with one of the greatest live bands of all time?" And then you realized, wait, this isn't even in the Top 100 pantheon of great Who songs and half the 20-somethings in attendance only know it as a car commercial. DeGraw came out to start Relative from the new self-titled album that J Records founder Clive Davis insists every artist must release and Crush, from the previous one which was actually improved upon in its stripped-down acoustic version. Since there are only two Gavin DeGraw albums to choose from, the set volleyed thusly from recent past to recent present. Lead guitarist Brian Dennis scored early guitar hero points for pulling some Mick Ronson glam-rock fret runs during the vaguely music-hallish Next To Me (Wait A Minute Sister) but it was DeGraw and his silver sparkled piano that consistently commanded center-stage attention at all times. Despite frequent critical comparisons to his Jason Mraz/John Meyer contemporaries, with whom he likely shares a fan base, vocally he more resembles The Black Crowes' Chris Robinson if he were channeled through Paul Carrack and was occasionally called upon to sing Fiona Apple songs, an impression which changed as the night wore on and his voice seemed to accrue more velvet. During Young Love, where he literally got down to the foot of the stage and pressed the flesh with fans, he reeled off some Sam Cooke trills and didn't sound like he'd get booed doing so at the Apollo. Unless of course they didn't like caps. Most shows, DeGraw's song intros gets up-close and personal but Monday it sounded like he was proposing themes for future editions of Maury. "Has anyone here ever been in the wrong relationship?" (Untamed). "Fellas, did you ever accuse your girlfriend of cheating and you were wrong?" (Cheated on Me). "Who here likes to drink?" (Sometimes You Need a Few Drinks to Fall in Love). But what proved his mettle as a premier showman was his deft way of handling the embarrassing age-old problem of "How do I get people to clap without looking like a trained sea lion in the process?" In the middle of Chemical Party, DeGraw crooned, "I really would like it if you clap your hands" like it was part of the song so by the time he did it himself he'd made it seem like it was their idea to begin with. And he got them to sing a verse of Proud Mary in the bargain. Smooth, eh? With his recent hit In Love With a Girl dispensed with in the latter half of the set, DeGraw returned alone for an extended solo encore where he used a barroom narrative to link George Jones' Bartender Blues with the yuletide favorite Silver Bells, climaxing into Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing and Let's Get It On, all of which he pulled off with admirable skill and emotion. Then the band returned for the nightcap, Chariot, which carried this audience off, arguably happier to be alive than even its author. www.azcentral.com/ent/music/articles/2008/09/23/20080923gavindegraw.html

Gavin is also scheduled to perform in Fort Myers on February 21. There may be other dates added too. He doesn't seem to take much time off.
