Yep, a MiG cd release party at 8 Mile would be FANTABULOUS. And I've got about 7 weeks to find housing a a job in NY/NJ. Shesh.

Are you able to look online? Can you get newspapers from that area at the library or online to check out the rental ads? It must be hard to hunt long distance! I guess if necessary, you can stay in a long term motel suite and look locally, but it sure would be nice if you could have something all set up before you leave W.VA. My niece does your kind of work, and she said it's fairly easy to find something but hard to find a really good position that isn't part time from the home (which is what she does). For a while, she worked at the hospital with full hours and bennies, but it was easier to raise kids working at home.

The good part about my type of work is that I DON'T have kids. Nigel pretty much takes care of himself. I've started looking online but have yet to go to the library, where I'm sure I could find quite a few things if I just knew what town I wanted to locate to. And I really can't leave my job here in WV until after Jan 1 so I can get ALL my retirement when I withdraw it...since that's what will probalby keep me afloat for a few months once I get there. It will be my contributions plus 4% interest on the total, not a bad chunk of change but certainly not enough to live on indefinately.

Yikes, hard for me not to be nosy and opinionated but it doesn't sound like a good idea to me to be spending your retirement moneys!! Are they in a government agency and did you qualify fully for retirement? At our ages there isn't really a ton of time to save and you don't want to have to work longer than necessary by spending your money now. I give you props for your adventuresomeness and independence. sounds like you are following your dreams.(I just hate that you are spending your retirement) very few can live on social security alone and who knows whether it will last through our retirement. Good luck with your moving arrangements. I know we didn't get together very often but I liked knowing you were close by. The good part about my type of work is that I DON'T have kids. Well, if you are lucky, you will find a place quickly, and a good job quickly, and can put the rest of the money back into a 401K for later! I'll cross my fingers and toes for that!

Actually, my retirement is in something with the state. I can't think what's its called right now but I know it's not in a 401K type thing. I liked being close to Ohio and could probably move to Columbus and get a job there but I want to be closer to NYC for selfish purposes and I want to have a place that, when TM gets together to see THE MAN that we can find a place (couches, beds, etc for my friends to stay with me and not have to fork out hotel $$. I've been very impressed with the lay of the land in New Jersey when I was there so that's the kind of move I want to make. Heidi is really upset. She keeps telling me she wants to come to NYC and see MiG so I'm going to have to figure something out for that... maybe drive down and get her so she can see him at Jersey City for PAFCOM in June (he told the MC he'd be there so we can only hope). Anyway, more lambert news: Amazon UK has put up a sampler of Adam's CD. If any of you want to hear it you can go to this link and preview the songs: bit.ly/4qLGCeAdam co-wrote Strut with Kara and wrote Aftermath, and Broken Open, those are the ones I'm certain of. At least one of the songs on there he co-wrote with Ryan Tedder of One Republic Soaked is a cover of a Muse song and Fever is a cover of a Lady GaGa song (in which you can hear her doing background-just recorded about a week or so ago). Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Wanda, is Heidi old enough for bus or train? Just a thought. And I think that is very selfless of you to think of all of us, I might even consider driving if you live closer to me than nyc...although I prefer to fly as I never have enough time off work to drive! Thanks for the links, btw.

Heidi's 18 and has never gone on public transportation by herself. With her mother recently deceased I don't know if her dad would allow her to travel alone.
OK, here's the rundown of the songs on Adam's CD along with who wrote them:
For Your Entertainment-Adam Lambert
01 - Music Again – Rob Cavallo, Justin Hawkins (the Darkness) 02 - For Your Entertainment – Claude Kelly & Dr. Luke 03 - Whataya Want from Me – Pink, Max Martin 04 - Strut – Adam Lambert, Kara DioGuardi 05 - Soaked – Matt Bellamy of Muse 06 - Sure Fire Winners – Rob Cavallo 07 - A Loaded Smile – Adam Lambert, Linda Perry 08 - If I Had You - Kara DioGuardi & Greg Wells 09 - Pick U Up – Rivers Cuomo (Weezer) and Greg Wells 10 - Fever - Lady Gaga 11 - Sleepwalker – Aimee Mayo, Chris Lindsay, Ryan Tedder 12 - Aftermath - Alisan Porter (Zodiac Show), Ferras AlQaisi, Ely Rise, & Adam Lambert 13 - Broken Open - Adam Lambert, Evan Bogart, Greg Wells 14 - Time for Miracles – Alain Johannes & Natasha Shneider; Arranged by Rob Cavallo
Rob Cavallo is the friend Brian May was visiting back in the summer when he heard Adam's Time For Miracles and blogged about it, saying it took a lot for someone's voice to make his knees turn to Jello but hearing that song did just that. That's a paraphrase but I put the whole quote in a message on my Facebook a few weeks ago.

Well, since she "co-wrote", I'll keep my fingers crossed that she didn't ruin the songs!

Strut seems to be more of Adam's lyrics...the snip has a lyric of "I was born with glitter on my face. My baby clothes made of leather and lace. All the girls in the clubs ask me...." and that's where the 30 seconds end. It's a dance number... not necessarily one of my favorites. If I Had You, on the other hand, another very dance oriented song, also written by Kara, this time with Greg Wells, is very cool. My particulr favorites of the snips are: 03 - Whataya Want from Me – Pink, Max Martin 05 - Soaked – Matt Bellamy of Muse 07 - A Loaded Smile – Adam Lambert, Linda Perry 10 - Fever - Lady Gaga 11 - Sleepwalker – Aimee Mayo, Chris Lindsay, Ryan Tedder 12 - Aftermath - Alisan Porter (Zodiac Show), Ferras AlQaisi, Ely Rise, & Adam Lambert 13 - Broken Open - Adam Lambert, Evan Bogart, Greg Wells
Of those, Aftermath and Sleepwalker are my current top songs along with For Your Entertainment and Time for Miracles. And I have a suspician that Aftermath was written about is experience on Idol. Very interesting lyrics.
