posted at RBL by cherylwww.rockbandlounge.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6201&whichpage=41Since it's finale day, I'd like to thank a few people...
First and foremost I want to thank all the wonderful Mods who helped make All-Stars happen. There was a lot of behind the scenes organization that happened, and they made it look effortless. I especially want to thank ems and inzane, the creators of our BIG DOUBLE TWIST in week nine, and my fellow Admin Bouffe - thank you!
I'd also like to thank the owners and members of MartyCasey.org and TeamMiG - without you this game would not have been nearly as much fun. TeamMiG upped the ante in the game early on, and every other group had to raise their game, or risk elimination. It was scary, but hellaciously fun! And who knew the MiG fans would turn out to be the master strategists? I think we all learned something from them! And the Marty fans, patiently controlling the game? Waiting to spring the Lovehammers fans on us until the very end? Well done!
I also want to thank CBS for bringing us Rock Star in the first place, or we wouldn't even be here.
And most importantly, I want to thank anyone who voted, or helped with song selection, or snarked, or posted banners, or posted hot half-naked photos, or stayed up way too late too many nights in a row! No matter how you personally played the game, I appreciate you!
We did good everyone! Thank you!posted at RBL by cheryl This is my favorite part: I'd also like to thank the owners and members of MartyCasey.org and TeamMiG - without you this game would not have been nearly as much fun. But most important, thank you to Joyce who worked tirelessly on this contest, not only as a Mod at RBL representing MiG, his fans and Team MiG, but also for all her banners, updates, and inspiration. #thhappy096# To Jaunty...my god, no one can get out the vote like you can!!! And did I mention banners? Amazing banners each and every week!! #thhappy096# To Cammy...for continuing to dazzle us with your graphics!!! #thhappy096# To Toni....for your hilarious posts and brilliant ideas to use MiG's own pics for promotion. And for trying to muster support at other MiG fansites. #thhappy096# To Rose...for staying up late with us every Sunday night for 2 months!! For your wonderful graphics and for rallying the NBS each and every week!!! #thhappy096# To Kay...who helped me send out countless e-mails at Myspace week after week to get out the vote!!! #thhappy096# To all of Team MiG who represented so beautifully on RBL, who we are, what we believe in and who so fervently defended our MiG when the snark was flying. For getting out the vote and supporting MiG throughout the contest!! And for making this contest (which got a bit contentious at times) so much fun!!! #thhappy096# We want to welcome back so many Team MiGsters who hadn't been here for a while that came back because of this contest!!! And we want to welcome all of our new members who joined Team MiG because of this contest!! We're so happy that ALL of you are here with us at Team MiG!!! #snoopy# #snoopy# And a massive thank you to Cheryl from RBL who's idea this contest was in the first place and for including all of us!! #thhappy096# We've enjoyed getting to know you and your forum and many of us will continue to visit and keep everyone there informed about MiG!!! And last but most certainly not least, a huge thank you to all the Marty Casey fans who supported MiG throughout the contest!! Your messages of support and votes were so inspirational to us!! #blowingkiss# #bearhug# **If I've forgotten to mention anyone, please forgive me, it's early for me and I've had a serious lack of sleep for weeks and weeks.**

posted by RBL Cheryl www.rockbandlounge.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6201&whichpage=43I've read in a couple of places that we started this contest not to help the singers, but instead to build traffic to RBL. Not true! We started it to have fun! Helping the singers would be nice if it happened, and I think it did, but this game was mostly about having a good time! And traffic? Well it's always nice, but it really was never a driving force. In fact, I checked our traffic stats tonight for the first time in over a month - and there was a small spike on Sundays and Tuesdays, but since the voting is now over that will end. In other words, it was never about the traffic.
That said, I wanted to share some stats with you, because I think it is kind of interesting to see where the traffic came from, since there were so many other sites involved in this game!
During Rock Star we had close to 100,000 unique visitors a day during the finale and we averaged between 20,000 to 50,000 unique visitors a day over course of the whole show. We also were still located at ROCKBAND.COM at that time, and had ten years of credibility and links built up with the search engines.
For All-Stars we averaged about 2000 unique visitors per day, with small spikes on Sundays and Tuesdays. But it's a brand new domain name, and there was not a big TV show pushing traffic our way - so I'm totally fine with those numbers. And just like when we were ROCKBAND.COM, once people come to the site, they view an average of 10-12 pages - which is a phenomenal number. Oh and Visitor Loyalty? Most of our visitors come back. Less than 20% visit us once, and never again. So we're doing good in all the ways that count.
Now onto the really interesting numbers!
The vast majority of our traffic comes from people knowing our URL and coming directly here, or people finding us through the search engines. We currently have 4433 indie bands profiled, and those pages generate a lot of traffic. But with All-Stars we had slightly more referral traffic than in the past, and here are those numbers for just the past month. I removed the referrals from sites not connected to all-stars - so it's not a complete list of every referring site, but it hits the highlights, as far as All-Stars is concerned.

These stats reflect our amazing Street Teaming efforts for MiG during one month. This is also excellent promotion for Team MiG.

Thanks for posting that, Rose. I'm beaming with pride right now!!! #thhappy096# I also wanted to share Marty's Acceptance Post...it's great!! Posted - 01/30/2008 : 08:35:52 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I make my way up to the stage to give my acceptance speech, I take my time as i see the stars do at the Grammy's and really soak in the moment and wring every drop of the warm sunshine out of this cherished honor. It feels good to be remembered for an experience that I feel so very lucky to have even been a part of in the first place. What is of most interest to me is that the show made such an impact that we are all following along with our favorite Rockstars years later. This is proof that the show really was something special. I feel that. I also know that fans of any of the Rockers from either year support many of the artists from the show. Jordis fans come out and see Lovehammers when we are in Minnesota, Lukas fans go see Toby when he is in Canada. It's always strange when you put music into a competition envelope and have to judge or compare. There were 30 singers between the two years and no two were even remotely the same. There were 30 distinct personalities that strive to create and open there sheltered souls up to the world. I think fans gravitate to the person that they most understand and would want as there friend. It's not just about looks. Music plays a really important role in everyone's lives and we are lucky to have this outlet. Let's embrace it. Keep seeing live shows, supporting your favorite bands and making friendships with the artists and the fans. The best thing that I ever got out of Rockstar was getting to watch so many great friendships become established because of a shared interest in music. There is something amazing about everyone that is here voting and supporting. You all really do care about that guy or girl you saw on TV. Many of the fans I can now call my friends. At 30 years old I never thought that I would get to completely reinvigorate my life with new friends from all over the globe. You are what keep me going thru the tough times and striving to write a record that will blow our minds. I am so psyched to get this honor. The celebration will commence at Hammerjam on March 14th. I am so honored that I might be adding a second show that weekend (March 15th) at a different venue. Something really intimate for the fans that have been such an important part of my career. It's gonna be an absolutely crazy weekend. That I can guarantee! And I'd like to thank the academy, whomever they are... Marty Casey ...and know I turn to walk off stage and some pretty girl in a borrowed dress points me in the direction to walk and I can't seem to find where the curtain opening is at so I end up entangled in the curtains as they cut to commercial. My manager fishes me out of the thick velvet curtains and says "nice speech but you never thanked me you little miscreant!" www.rockbandlounge.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6201&whichpage=43

How so awsome of Marty to take the time to write this speech! WOW!
I love his sense of humor:

Rose your right that was really sweet of Marty. I had fun reading that. I love the way he thinks... I can see why MiG & Marty are very close. They both have a beautiful way of expressing themselves. What a special show that will be for the Marty fans in March. I wish we had something like that to look forward to. Nancy....that was a beautiful thank you letter. Once again I feel truly lucky to be apart of such a beautiful family. We all worked hard towards reaching our goals for MiG. We stood strong and stood up for what we believed in...MiG! I was so proud to be a MiG fan and see all the support MiG got over at RBL it just inspired me even more to help in every way I could. The funny thing is I learned so much about promoting, I never thought I even had in me. I surely never thought I'd see myself ever making banners or begging for votes every week. What a humbling experience. I know it got hairy and I admit I got frustrated but I will miss the commitment to MiG every week. Sounds stupid I know. But I had a good time meeting people and chatting about MiG online. Now what am I gonna do...lol Oh yeah I do have a life and a real job...but this is way more fun. ;D There I go again!! ;D
