Remember "Dark Shadows"? Johnny has a project in mind that he is hoping "comes to fruition" where he will be playing Barnabas Collins! #clap#

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss! That was the first soap I ever saw! Way back when it was black and white and so non-tech that sometimes you would see the grips caught in camera range!!! I loved it!

EMILY!!!! Wow, Johnny as Barnabus Collins? Hmmmmm...He strikes me more as a Quentin though. Although, seeing Johnny with fangs paints an interesting picture...And he's pale enough and hollow cheeked enough to pull it off...And I can't wait to see him in Sweeney Todd even though it's gonna be a bloodbath if Burton gets to have his way (and it sounds like he did from what I've read). Definately not for the kiddies. And, Toni, Jonathan Frid (the original Barnabus) actually made an appearance here in Huntington, in costume and character. It was some kind of one-man show, I think, where he recited from his book of poetry that had recently been published. It was quite an interesting night.

OMG!!! Thanks so much for this Cammy. I just watched it. I can't wait til December 21st...And I'm not a big blood and guts moving fan but this looks like it will rank right up there with my other favorite JD spooky movie, From He**. I guess I really like Johnny in period clothing (FH, Sleepy Hollow, the Libertine, Finding Nevderland). I may not sleep for a few nights after I see it but it'll be worth it.

OMG *gulp* We've seen Sweeny Todd as a Stage production and it was beyond awesome. Did you notice the rating (appropriately) was R "graphic bloody violence" I love Depp and throw in *cough* Burton... well You KNOW this film is going to be GOOD (scary), But, having seen it on stage, I'm not sure I can handle a movie production by Burton with Depp as Sweeny Todd #hidingunderchair# Thanks Cammy for posting this one. I think it comes out around Valentines and let me say that this is NOT my idea of a valentines movie. It would be more suited for Halloween imo.

Rose, it actually comes out on December 21 and it's not actually a Christmas movie either but Harry Potter came out in July so who's to say. I'm more interested in hearing Johnny SING in it (especially after that little sound bite in the trailer).

December 21? Why was I thinking February??? I know hubby & I talked about how Sweeny Todd is not a valentine's movie. Anyway, I want to go see it, but.... I'm so afraid that I'll be too afraid. I may wait until it hits DVD and watch it at home.

Wanda, I think you are right. Johnny Depp isn't old enough to be Barnabus Collins! But he would make a geeat young Barnabus! I loved him in Edward Scissorhands. That was such a sad movie.

I would definately go to see a DS movie with JD in it regardless of who he plays...I can remember the flashbacks tye used to do on DS and always thought Barnabus was too old to have been involved with Angelique...never could stand her. It's been too long now for me to remember clearly but I think Angelique was married to Quentin but having an affair with Barnabus. I kinda had a thing for one of the later characters that was introduced just before the series went off. His name was Aristide but I can't remember who played him. Maybe I need to make a trip to the IMDB. Rose, I'm not one for scary movies either, esepcially slasher movies, but I HAVE to see this one before it comes out on DVD. Johnny's one of those I seldom miss a movie premiere week. The only one I didn't see in the theatre and will never see the rest of is Secret Window. I rented the DVD and turned it off when they killed his dog. I absolutely DO NOT watch movies where they kill animals...A friend had to tell me they didn't kill the horse in Hidalgo before I would see the movie. I learned to ask about that after I got blindsided when I went to see Turner and Hooch. Never again. It's the reason I doidn't go to see 8 Below last fall and won't see it. It's also the reason I won't watch March of the Penguins. Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to rattle on. Got my fingers crossed that Johnny can pull the DS thing off. I'd love to see him in a show like that and hear that great spooky music again.

I heard that Johnny's movie that he filmed in Wisconsin, Chicago and Indiana is coming out in May or June. It's called "Public Enemies" and he plays John Dillinger. That will be another bloody one! And more movies! Johnny Depp in buckskin as Tonto in a Lone Ranger remake, the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, the aforementioned Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows, and my screen hero JACK SPARROW in another Pirates of the Caribbean movie! #happy036# Read more from Los Angeles Times Entertainment.
