Woo hoo, I went to Cleveland to see Marty! He did an accoustic performance and is heading on to Pennsylvania for anther. I got some nice pic, not of the performance but of before and after. I don't have them uploaded yet, I will probable just make and album on photobucket and then provide the link. Anyway, I finally got a pic with Marty, lol. The hammergirls were so lovely, they took care of me and DH and made sure I met him and got my pic. He sends his love to MiG fans and to MiG, of course!

Marty's latest blog Change is Everything Category: Music www.martycasey.com/news.htmI wanted to reach out to everyone and let you know of some equally amazing and difficult changes going on in my life at the present moment. With sincere thought and sleepless nights I have made the decision to change my current musical direction. I am still deeply committed to the creation and performance of music but have decided to take on a new opportunity. This scenario appeared very quickly and I only had a few days to make the decision. I chose what I felt was right for my life. I have been working in Los Angeles and Toronto as a songwriter for the new L.A. GUNS album and as we were working on the album, the former singer of the band made some extremely bad decisions and left the band as a result. The band was in the studio in Canada with their producer, Steve Thompson, and all set to record the songs we had written together. On top of the month of recording that needed to be completed, their world tour was confirmed to begin at the end of June. They offered me to opportunity to step in and be the new voice of L.A.GUNS. I thought about the opportunity and the possibilities it opened up for me. I loved the songs I had written with the band and felt it was time for me to embrace this new direction. I was excited at the opportunity to record this album and then join the "Summer Blackout Tour" which will take me all over the world over the next year. I chose to dive into the creativity and momentum. It was a tough decision because the Lovehammers have always been very good friends and musical brothers. It was incredibly hard to talk to them and let them know of my new musical direction. My intent was not to hurt anyone. My intent is to continue passionately in creating and performing music. I have felt stuck for some time and when this scenario presented itself it felt like the clouds opening up and showing me a bright light of possibility. I am excited to record this album that I have so passionately been writing and then set-off on tour for the next year. It feels like the right place for me. I hope you embrace my change in direction and I hope you understand. I am working incredibly hard recording the album and want to affect people with intense live performances. A place has opened up for me and I am committed to making this a success. I also hope there will be future Lovehammers shows because Bob, Dino & Billy are a big part of my life. I hope to see you all soon and all the best to you, Marty Casey

Jen, WOW...I'm shocked. Thanks for bringing this over.
I'll have to pop over to the LH and MC.org forums and see what's going on.

Thanks for posting that, Jen. Quite a shock, isn't it? The other LH guys aren't too happy about this, to put it mildly. Here is Bobby's post about it: Dino's post is much longer... I've posted the first two paragraphs below, and you can read the rest here: www.lovehammersforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=301363&highlight=#301363Does anyone know anything about L.A. Guns? I read that they've been around for awhile, and their members have changed over the years. I'm not sure what their music sounds like though. I can't imagine Marty with another band, but maybe this will turn out to be a good move for all of them down the road. #IDunno#

It's all very, very sad. I don't see this being a good move for Marty. I never cared for L.A. Guns and I don't think they are the right kind of band for Marty.
I also feel really bad for Dino, Bobby and Billy. It really sucks when a band finds themselves without their lead singer and it sounds like they're understandably very hurt. #cryingsmilie#

I can't imagine him having anything even close with another band. But, I'll support Marty and his decision and the LH and whatever direction they decide to go. I love them all.

After reading the rest of Dino's post and some of the responses in that thread, it sounds like it may be a bad move after all. It sounded like things were really coming together for LH and they were moving in the right direction, with so much to look forward to later this year. I wanted to see Marty perform live again, but I don't think I want to see him with the new band.

There is a long story about la guns on wikipedia. Pretty shocking news. Easy to understand how both sides felt. it is hard to believe Marty would treat the LH that way but to look at it from marty's point of view, a chance to maybe gain more exposure. I can believe it was a hard decision. Tough time for musicians-awful to hear that the LH too were vicitm of people they thought were there to help them. What a difficult industry it is. I sure feel bad for the LH fans dealing with the fallout of this decision

I am shocked, for sure. Not that Marty would make a change, after all he left the Hammers to try and join InXs. But the fact that it was so out of left field and obviously the band felt sucker-punched. It seems like the InXs decision had been thoroughly discussed beforehand, but perhaps this wasn't. I hope it all works out beneficial for both sides. Also, I'm kinda sad because I liked the Lovehammers with Marty. I also like Marty accoustic. I know nothing about the new band.

Well, LA Guns was never that 'big'... they were just another 80's cookie cutter hair band... BUT, they all seem to be making a comeback (or trying to!haha). I personally think this will be a good opportunity for Marty, the Guns may not last, but at least he'll have this new CD and a world tour under his belt. And, I did read Dino's blog, and Marty's blog, but I also listened to the radio interview Marty just did... and I think Dino may have exaggerated (or maybe Marty got his facts messed up, dunno), but according to Marty they only had a few gigs confirmed for the summer, like a couple in August he said. And, Dino even said he had only spoken to Marty once (in the span of quite a while it sounded like), so maybe their goals were a bit different. ?? I dunno, just "guessing". I did read the part of Marty's blog (or maybe it was the radio interview) where he said he had felt "stuck" for quite a while now. ?? Well, it's his decision and his career... so, I wish him AND the LH's all the best!! Hey... it happens... even the Beatles broke up!!!haha xoxoxo

Hi all -- I thought I'd pop in over here and give you guys some commentary and info on Marty's latest gig. This decision did not come lightly for him. He had been stagnant with Lovehammers and this was an opportunity for him to get back into music full-time and move beyond some of the drama. We at the .org/.com are fully supportive of his decision and are ready to embrace his new creative outlet. Here are a couple of interviews where Marty better explains his decision: www.q101.com/blogs/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=100333www.martycasey.org/news.htm(scroll down to the Power Radio 92 player. Please ignore the chick interviewing him - she was um, strange. But Marty handled the interview well and was able to communicate his feelings about what has transpired the last two weeks.) Some fans are quite unhappy about Marty's move to L.A. Guns. Everyone has a right to have feelings about his decision, but this was a decision that was HIS to make. His decision wasn't about "fans" - it was a very personal decision about the direction of his life and career. I choose to support Marty in this new endeavor and look forward to the new CD coming out in March. ~ Amy ~
