Hey guys,
One of the fans on DDB asked Mrs. Castro about her favorite song that Jason performed/recorded and about her feelings concerning the judges comments and this was her reply:
Favorite recorded song...I don't want to Cry, favorite performance, Dolly Parton resulst show? I think when Jason is wearing boots and goofing off in the background with Kristy Lee and he looks like he is square dancing! He showed some of his funloving side and I loved it. I know who he is, I know what we think of him, and I know we can't be everybody's favorite, so when they "judge" him, it's their opinion, take the good, leave the bad and move on! I think he's the same way...once he got comfortable in his music their opinion became just that! Thanks for asking! I get more embarrased for the judges and their words and behavior! I'd die if I ever talked to another human being like that! Different mentality I guess! Actually, I loved some where over the rainbow too! Wow, that was moving! Okay, I loved them all!!! Busted! It's awsome to see him grow each week! His voice became stronger and his performance more passionate! It takes guts to be that vulnerable, I don't think I could do that!
Such great insight into Jason and how he and his family handled the bashing he took from the judges this season.

NEWSFLASH!!! NEWSFLASH!!! NEWSFLASH!!! Hold on to your dreads, Castro fans! Jason is coming home to Rockwall, and you are invited to the party. Jason is the guest of honor in a City parade, and then the top four American Idol finalist will perform an exclusive mini-concert at The Harbor. Neighborsgo has all you need to know about the homecoming celebration.
Jason Castro's homecoming plans, May 29
It’s official. The City of Rockwall released final details about Jason Castro’s homecoming celebration, which is happening Thursday, May 29. The fanfare begins with a parade featuring the top four American Idol finalist and his family, and includes an exclusive mini-concert at The Harbor.
The parade rolls out from the corner of Ridge Road and Summer Lee at 5:30 p.m, and ends on Lake Front Trail near the Cinemark Theater. In car one, will be Rockwall Mayor Bill Cecil. Jason and his parents, Rene and Betsi, will be in car number two. Cars three through eight will include members of Jason’s family. The vehicles that follow will include Jason groupies, the Chick-Fil-A cow, and of course, the dreadhead buses. (I think you’ll see me hanging out one of the windows!)
At 6:30 p.m., Jason will perform three songs at The Harbor’s outdoor amphitheater on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard - and yes, dreadhead fans, I’m told he’ll bring his ukulele and sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Mayor Cecil will present Jason with a key to the City. Teaching Pastor Wes Hamilton from LakePointeChurch (Jason’s home church) will commission Jason.
Brandon Todd from Fox 4 News will emcee the festivities, and neighborsgo cameras will be rolling. (Your photos and videos are wanted, too! Upload your still shots and videos on neighborsgo.com after the event, for a chance to be included in an upcoming neighborsgo print edition, or featured online on “Jason Castro Central,” the part of our Web site that is devoted to our favorite American Idol!) I’m told that Jason REALLY appreciates everything his fans have done for him; this is your chance to show Jason your love and support! Wear your Jason Castro t-shirt if you have one, show up with signs and banners, paint your car windows (and wear dreads, if you dare!)
Following Jason’s mini-concert, everyone is encouraged to stay for Rockwall’s regularly scheduled Concert by LakeSeries, which features Angie Stevens and her band, the Beautiful Wreck, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
And so, you ask, where do I park? Parking at The Harbor is expected to fill early in the day. The City encourages everyone to park at LakePointeChurch, located at 701 E. Interstate 30, and take the complimentary shuttle buses to and from the parade and concert site, courtesy of the RockwallIndependentSchool District. Shuttle buses will run from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. If you don’t go by shuttle, consider carpooling. This will be a heavily attended event and traffic snarls are likely.
Jason’s homecoming celebration is sponsored and supported by the City of Rockwall, Rockwall Parks and Recreation, Hilton Bella Harbor Hotel on Lake Ray Hubbard, the Rockwall Police, Rockwall ISD, Rockwall Chamber of Commerce, Lake Pointe Church, Rockwall Signs, C.E.R.T., Rusty Wallis Honda and Volkswagon, Scott Self and Seawolf, Brandi Patterson T-Shirt Designs, Michael Kitkoski Creative Services, Dallas Police on Lake Ray Hubbard, Dallas Morning News/neighborsgo and many more!!
Stay tuned to neighborsgo.com for updates, and also be sure to check out the City’s Web site, rockwalllovesjason.com. Posted by Dawn Redig on May 22, 2008 11:32 PM NEIGHBORSGO.COM
