Last night's performances are finally available for download so I grabbed Mad World. WOW!!! I didn't start out a fan, but Adam has made me a fan.
Also, I know some of you are not fans, but I gave a listen to a couple of Megan's downloads and all I can say is SIGN THAT WOMAN TO A JAZZ LABEL AND GET HER IN A STUDIO NOW!!! She can sing her arse off and she's got a voice and style tailor made for jazz. You can hear the joy as she's singing. I'm a fan!! Love how unique she is.

Aha, now I see where Adam got his idea for this version of Mad World. He is very "song smart"! www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4It will be wierd if he doesn't win, because he seems like a shoe-in. OH, and the vid has already been pulled from youtube, lol. That was pretty quick! I love that video. I saw it today too. Tears for Fears vid of that song was strangely upbeat-ala 80's beat but strange backdrop for the words. Gary Jules version makes more sense but seems a little monotonous. Adam ramped up the melody from Gary's version and is the best of any of the three I have seen

Adam Lambert's 'Mad World' loved by Gary Jules weblogs.newsday.com/entertainment/music/idol/blog/2009/04/adam_lamberts_mad_world_loved.htmlAdam Lambert's "Mad World" performance got mad praise from Gary Jules, who first did the stripped-down arrangment of the song for the movie "Donnie Darko." According to the Associated Press, Jules had Idol on the TV but was in another room when he heard the song come on: "I ran out and I was like, `I knew he was gonna do it! I knew it!'" he recalls. "I've been waiting for years for somebody to do it. I thought David Cook was gonna do it last year for sure. ... As soon as I saw that guy Adam on `American Idol,' I was like, 'Oooh, this could be it.'" ... Jules, 40, thinks Lambert put a signature spin on his cover-of-a-cover. "It was fantastic," he says. "He has a beautiful voice. ... I heard his Michael Jackson cover and I heard some of his other stuff, and I think that he's probably one of the most — if not the most — interesting performer I've ever seen on `American Idol.'" That's pretty high praise from someone with real musical chops, and comes a few weeks after Smokey Robinson said he loved Adam's "Tracks of My Tears."

Mary Beth, I love both versions.
I'm a huge TFF fan and tempted to write to Curt Smith to see if he heard/saw Adam's performance. We're MS friends.

Oooh, did you see the quick look at his family? If that is his brother, move over Adam, hahaha. The bro is very very good looking from the quick glance I got of him!!! That performance most likely sealed the deal for Adam as winner!!!

For me, Adam's performance of Mad World ranks up there with David Cook's, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and is close to Jason's Hallelujah. A very special Idol moment.

I am pretty sure Adam is the winner, but I still like Alison, too...such natural talent at such a young age, can you imagine how she will be in a few years if she is still in the biz!!!!!!!!!! I think Adam's stage career really helped with his presentation, omg the lighting on the last show, that really highlighted the song perfectly.

Hello everyone, Thank you for those two links, I agree that he posses STAR power in this season. What I want to make a comment on is about most of TM seem to be united in their current season's choice to be AI. (Those who disagree can dissent). Is it because we are reminded by someone in AL ? I am not taking the issue of his talent away, just pointing something kind of "cool"
Anyway, this post is my official statement that I LOOOOOVVVVEEEEE Adam although I tend to gravitate toward a certain type of performer. What I like about him that contributes to the LOVE is his very calm, focused, non arrogant, competitive personality. He fight using his own talent to showcase, not borrow someone else's or not attempting to overshadow other contestants' efforts. He performs something none o them even thought of to do. IMO <<<not trying to have sparks flying or start a negative discussion.
Again, thanks to those links, I generally make it home to the performance show but not every night, I almost never make it home in time for to the result show. I have TIVO, but never bother as I still have no time to watch it.

I agree that Adam is very talented. He's also smart and seems to do things the right way. Whenever I think of him singing Ring of Fire it makes me smile - that was really funny and kind of outrageous, but I liked it. Randy Travis didn't quite know what to say! Adam may very well be the winner and would be deserving, but personally I also really like Danny and think he has a lot of musical talent. He's also very sweet and seems so full of joy, in spite of the pain he had to endure. I enjoy listening to all of them though.

I've read that the theme this week is Songs from The Cinema. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Adam busted out some drag and performed Time Warp from Rocky Horror? ;D
Can't you just see it?

hahaha, Nancy, Rocky Horrer WAS mentioned, and referred to Adam, hahahaha! You sure called it, hahahaha! I must say, I have to agree with Simon...while Adam has far and away the best male voice, I don't think his 'rock star' moves are quite up to par with his voice. Dare I say...too theater! Hahaha, jk! But he just doesn't move quite as loose as I would expect. Still, so far I still am calling it a Adam/Alison final.
