I know most of you aren't country fans and neither am I as I've said MULTIPLE times but I went to a festival show last night in a little one-horse town about 40 miles from home to see Shawn perform. To say I haven't been overly impressed with his previous shows I've seen would be an understatement but because he is a friend of a friend I go and take pictures and videos for him to use as he sees fit since he's trying to make a break in music and needs all the help he can get. Well, last night was a show I'm so glad I didn't miss. He truly impressed this rocker chick with the caliber of show he put on at Summerfest. If any of you feel inclined to want to check him out here's the link to the playlist I set up for the videos I uploaed to You Tube from last night plus one from an earlier show I saw him in. Feel free to comment either there or here and please rate the videos. Here's the URL: www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0AFE58DF056645D5Thanks.

Not bad. I'm def not into country music, but I find him pleasant enough to listen to. Last night we went to see a co-worker's band at a new club, so I am rather jaded, lol. They are a high energy and fun band that does a lot of British Invasion music, so it's hard to compare, because they really rock it out!!!

Shawn doesn't have a lot of confidence in his own songwriting (Take A Look Around and The Old Me) so that's why most of the songs are covers. I absolutely fell in love with The Old Me cos he wrote that three years ago when he was going through a divorce. Take a Look Around was one of the two songs that won him the title Colgate Country Showcase winner for 2007. Thank you for commenting and watching, Toni. I would love for there to be some good rocker bands locally (well, we've got Plastic Banana but they're all 10th graders at a local high school so they don't do clubs yet, LOL.

Lol. Well, Plastic should be great by the time they get to club age! There are tons of bands around here, all genres of music, too. Too many bands, too little time. As I said, Shawn has a very pleasant voice, he just needs to put more oomph and conviction into it!

I actually like some country(probably since our busdriver was such a country fan when all we wanted to do was have a rocking bus in high school) at any rate, I think Shawn has a pleasant voice but seems a bit ordinary. I couldn't find anything in his performance that made him stand out. The video quality was great and the song he wrote about his divorce was touching but it was hard for me to imagine him at the country music awards and making an impact on the crowds. I'm happy you enjoyed the show. It was great weather for an outdoor show this weekend!

I was actually able to deliver the concert video and picture CD directly to Shawn today. I had planned to take them to my friend Cindy at dialysis today after work so I could pick up my camera case from her. She called me just as I was leaving work to tell me Shawn had come in with another EMT to pick up a patient to transport home and would be there for about 5 or 10 minutes. I'm 3 minutes away from the dialysis center at work and had already punched out so I hightailed it over there and handed the goods to the man myself receiving a huge bear hug in return and a couple hundred thank yous as well. I told him in person that he has my permission to use any or all the stuff I've given him so far in any way he sees fit and thanked him for giving me the opportunities to hone my video shooting skills. He only asked three things the next time I go see him perform: to take some shots of the audience (especially if they are a good one like Saturday night), to try to do more shots of the whole group on stage instead of just focusing on him and to film his meet & greets/photo signings as well. I wish I had known that Saturday cos I had a perfect angle and would have had a great shot of him signing that baby for him as well.. I told him no problem and I would definately do that next time. Then he grinned and said "What I'd really like is a montage of bits of the best parts of all the songs in one video so I could use them as sort of an overview of what I can do." Now he's given me something to tax my limited video editing skills. Wish me luck. I've got some ideas and I think they'll work really well. I'm also going to see what I can do with the pictures I've got and set him up a new slideshow since his old one is just that, OLD. Anyway, just wanted to share my good fortune in actually getting to talk to him and tell him there is actually a picture of him signing the baby that a woman had him sign at the show Saturday. He's still freaked about that one.
