Hey, all. Quite by accident I think I've uncovered a trend and why MiG's first cd is cover songs. I purchased a new DVD of a live Rick Springfield concert that was done late last year. He was talking about his new album which was, you got it, a cover album. He did such songs as Broken Wings, Baker Street, Waiting For A Girl Like You and several others. Rod Stewart hasn't done a cd of anything but cover songs for several years. Earlier this year, Def Leppard released an cd of cover songs and, just a little while ago, Clay Aiken released an ablum of cover songs, one being a duet with Suzie McNeal (I Wanna Know What Love Is). There was a comment made that cover recordings seem to be big business right now. Does anyone else see a trend here?

Hi Wanda! I'd thought about this too when in the same week we learned about Rod's album, I saw a promo for Clay Aiken's. Hopefully MiG will be riding the same wave!

Yuppers, it is a trend. There was a big article in our local paper last week. It was talking about John Legend and how there seems to be a need for "real" music rather that the bland pop out today. And that is one reason why so many singers are doing covers of the great older songs. So, yeah, Universal ( and MiG) is more savvy than we have given them credit for. Of course, there is lots of competition in this "new" genre, but MiG has the talent to compete as long as Universal publicizes him enough.

And speaking of John Legend, I saw him on TV today, and I couldn't help thinking that with the right publicity, MiG should be the next John Legend. Both handsome and charming and classic. And quite honestly I prefer MiG's song's to John's.

Well MiG is certainly in good company with that list of performers who are and have done cover albums...the only difference is that his will be the best #happy036#

I actually didn't care for some of Rod's covers. He doesn't have that pretty of a voice.

I saw Rod on Dancing With The Stars last week and was not impressed in the least. He looked like an old man with a pot belly trying to be a teenager. And his voice wasn't very good either. Now, you're dealing with a serious Rod Stewart fan here so, for me to say that, it had to be pretty bad. In fact, I thought he was pathetic. At least Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler can still carry a tune. I don't think rod can anymore. I, for one, will definately NOT buy this latest cover cd he's released. I have, however, bought Def Leppard's, Clay Aiken's (and I'm not a Clay fan... I bought it for Suzie's track) and Rick Springfields. All of them are great but MiG's is going to be the best of all of them. By the way, Suzie sounds awesome in her duet. I think it's also on her my space site.
