Hey, gang:
I just got back to Huntington a couple hours ago from, as the title says, the 2nd Annual Wanda & MB Labor Day Meet in Columbus. We did this on the Sunday before Labor Day last year and it was very rushed. I went to the Zoo (Jack Hanna's the Director Emeritus there)taht morning then met MB for dinner at the Cap City Diner. Yummy. Then I drove home that same evening. Bad idea. This time I decided to do things a little different. I made plans to go up on Sunday and stay overnight so we'd have plenty of time to Street Team and whatever. I packed my dog in the car and headed for Columbus. We checked in to the hotel and I relaxed a while til MB called. We decided to do some street teaming at a nearby shopping center so MB was armed with her drop cards and I had mine too but I also had a bunch of the postcards as well. We stopped at Barnes and Noble to see if we could find MiG's cd there. They showed one in stock but no one could find it, either in the M's or the A's (in case they filed it under his last name). The sales girl there was a real sweety for helping us so MB gave her a drop card and I gave her a postcard and we told her a little about our MiG. When we left there we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. MB was such a sweety. Since she hadn't been able to be with us in Chicago and had missed my birthday she treated me to dinner there. The food is SCRUMPTIOUS and the cheesecake is to die for. We split a piece of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake and you even got a little piece of Godiva chocolate with the cheesecake. I had the lunch portion of the soup of the day (broccoli & cheddar cheese) and a garden salad (yummy). I couldn't finish it all but, believe me, I finished the cheesecake, every last bite of it, and was stuffed by that time. Our waitress was so sweet when we asked her to take our pictures. We both held up a drop card and I let MB wear my Street Team badge from Chicago: and we MiGged her for her kindness. As you can see, I was wearing my Got MiG t-shirt. Thanks Jen Green.
We walked around the shopping center window shopping and looking for people to MiG. There was a fruit stand when we were walking toward some of the other shops and I stopped to buy some peaches while MB talked to the lady. This lady was a street teamer's dream...very impressed with MiG but I will let MB fill you in on that one.
We then went into Bath and Body to check out their stuff and I found my new favorite hand sanitizer: it's called Midnight Pomegranate (I call it Midnight PoMiGranite) and it smells heavenly. While we were in there Waterloo Sunset came on the music speakers in the store but it was some female who butchered the song, completely ripped it to shreds. Anyway, they were getting ready to close so we decided to go to see a movie since it was still early. We decided to go see Hairspray! I've got to say it had a terrific soundtrack and, much to my surprise, Christopher Walken has fantastic comedic timing. I've only see him play bad guys wonderfully so this was a treat for me to see this side of him. Travolta stole the show but the one that had my jaw dropping was when I heard James Marsden (Corny Collins) sing. I have a hard time seeing him as any character besides Spike from Buffy (I LOVED Spike but not as much as Angel) and always thought he was English (NOT, he's from So. California, born and raised). I just kept seeing MiG as Link though... that kid who played him has the bluest eyes (he's in High School Musical) but I just kept picturing MiG. Anyway, before the movie we went to another Barnes and Noble and guess what we found: I didn't notice til I saw the picture that we put him in front of Midnight Oil, an Aussie group. Very cool!
We met two young ladies on our way out and MiGged them as well. They seemed very interested in hearing MiG's sounds. I'm sure MB will have more to add to this.
And I'm saying Thank You again, MB for the most relaxing weekend I've had in a long time. It was so much fun to be able to get up this morning when I wanted to and not have to rush to head home. Nigel was an absolute doll the whole trip and I think I'm ready to go back to work (NOT!!) tomorrow. I look forward to the next Meet in Columbus and hope that Toni, Carol, Jaunty and the girls can be a part of it. We have to plan it a little farther in advance than the week of to coordinate it all. Thanks for letting me ramble.
