I'm appliance shopping and wondering if anyone has a french door refrigerator. pros? cons? Also if anyone has a washing machine that they really like I'm interested in that as well. Thanks! Sandy Hi, I have the Kenmore refrigerator that has the 2 doors on top and the freezer on the bottom.. We've had the stainless steel model now for about 3-1/2 years. I really like it. It is so much roomier than the regular 2 door (freezer 1 side and fridge other side) ones. The freezer is roomie and it has the basket that slides in and out. With 4 kids, I needed that big fridge! Also if anyone has a washing machine that they really like I'm interested in that as well. Thanks! Sandy Have you bought a washer yet? I had to buy a new washer and dryer when I moved, and I chose Sears Kenmore. They always seem to have the highest-rated washers/dryers (in Consumer Reports). I've purchased them before in other homes, and have never had any problems with them. My washer is the 80 series (white, but also comes in bisque). Joyce

Thanks, Marly, that was the kind of info I was looking for.
And thanks, Joyce. I'm going to a mega-appliance store that we have in Illinois called Abt, so it's good to know that you've found the Kenmore's to be reliable.
Thanks for the info!

...George Foreman's "Lean, Mean, Fat Grillin' Machine Grill!! I also have the George Foreman Rotisserie!! I use the rotisserie all the time whenever I want chicken (whole) and don't want to butcher it up and fry it. Keeps it very juicy and flavorful unlike baking.
So now we have the grill! Wonderful appliance!! I can now do grilled chicken breast, burgers, pork chops, k-bobs, etc!! And being on the Adkins diet makes it even more perfect!
If you haven't got one, I highly recommend them! ;D #smiley2#

GREAT thread!! Well - talk of a feather bed makes me think of my pillow.... I have one of those "memory foam" pillows!! That I abolutely LOVE>... I used to always wake up w/ a headache or crick in my neck... and I HATE flat pillows.... The memory foam ones LOOK strange but they are SOO comfortable... supposedly better for your spine as well. I can't WAIT to have a tempurpedic mattress - UM... VERY expensive tho... At Costco i found a "memory foam" topper for only $100 tho! I think I'll try that out first Ames Amy, I bought one of these pillows after you recommended it and I loooooove it!!! I feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud! #cloud9# I wake up feeling refreshed and without a neck ache. Thanks for the recommendation! #bearhug#

Thanks for the recommendation! #bearhug# Mary Lee, Cool! aren't they awesome... I take my pillow with me EVERYWHERE I don't think i'd EVER go back to a normal pillow. I truly never go away from home without it! I'm so glad you are having a better sleep! me too for sure... Now I just have to save enough money to get a full memory foam bed! lol Jon and I have been looking at the Sleep Number Bed because he likes really soft and I like firmer.. BUT, I can't seem to get him to understand that the tempurpedic beds form to YOU and it should be the perfect sleep... So we can't decide between a sleepnumber and a tempurpedic... but our next mattress will definitely be one of those... #bearhug# Ames xoxo

LOL I don't know that I need a new mattress, but the pillow has made a world of difference! Kayla is trying to steal it from me, so I guess I'm going to have to break down and buy her one, too. She's 17 and has more aches and pains than I do!! LOL

Here's a thread from the past, eh? I dug it out and dusted it off to recommend wine decanters, if you're into red wine. I didn't expect it to make much of a difference, but it actually did improve a so-so bottle by decantering it for about an hour. If you are not a wino, please disregard.

Hi Sandy, I loved this thread. Glad you revived it. One thing is that when you put wine in a crystal decanter it leaches lead out of the decaneter and into the fluid. i used to keep liquor in a decanter until I read about that. I think the same can go for crystal drinking glasses.

Amy, I would love to know how that works out if you get the foam topper. MB Mary Beth, I recently purchased one of those memory foam toppers for my bed. I just wanted to let you know that it is tremendous. I thought I would never get a good night sleep. I have rheumatoid arthritis and have a very hard time finding a comfortable position to sleep. With the memory foam I am sleeping like a baby. My husband loves it too. My 13 year old has also commented that We have been in very good moods lately. It's amazing what a good night sleep will do for you. Kathy

Kathy, that is a really old thread but I am so glad you found it. That is pretty high praise for that foam topper. Maybe I will have to try one. What kind of store did you buy yours in and how thick a topper did you get? My kids would love it if I was in a better mood

I SO want a foam topper!! LOL Actually, me and Jon just bought a bed from the BX on base that wasn't so expensive... and it feels more comfy than a SEALY! It's called ... oops I don't remember (I'll post it when I find out)... but it's a great mattress with a THICK foam topper on it!! YAY!!! i'm FINALLY going to get one!! Kathy, I'm so glad to hear that it's worth the money... Ok ... I love this thread too... so here is my recommendation:
EVAMOR bottled water! this water is THE BOMB!!! You can really taste the difference in the purity and taste. But.. here's the kicker... it's more than just purified water... it's ALKALINE water!! it has a pH of 9!! And is SOO good for you. Also, the company that makes this water is from Louisiana ... "Abita Springs" is the name if you've ever had that kind. But it's ultra pure water and apparently the springs where the water comes from has been used for years by Indians in the area as "Healing Water"!! I'm sortof a tree hugger and I'm always reading up on alternative health stuff. One of the things all the great "gurus" say is that the more BALANCED your body is (alakaline not acidic) the less likely you'll have disease!! Apparently if your body was fully balanced (alkaline) disease could not grow. HOwever we know that all the stuff we eat drink and stress over makes us HIGHLY acidic ... SO I highly recommend the alkaline water (Evamor)! it tastes awesome and helps to balance out your body (get rid of acid)! ... here is the website: www.liveacidfree.com you can click a link there that shows you what stores carry it... and I think you can order online. Also - just another plug for our health... get a WATER FILTER for your faucet... I highly recommend that you doin't drink faucet water... it's full of bad stuff like chlorine and lead and other things that might get us sick in the long run. Some people even have filters for their showers (I want one soon). Okies... off my soapbox

Lol, Ames, I guess I am lucky about the water. All our pipes are either copper or plastic and our water comes from our pond, in other words, rainwater! And at our store, we sell those memory foam pillows and toppers but I haven't bought one yet. I sleep like a log anyway, so I don't need one! but I have heard nothing but good comments about them from those who have them.
*e2a* hahaha, I see that the google ads are listening! We are talking about mattress toppers and voila! Ads for mattresses show up!

Thanks for the recommendation on the Evamor water, Ames! I am definitely going to give that a try. I don't think I've ever heard about the benefits of alkaline vs. acidic and how that affects your body. Very interesting!! There is a store that sells it only 6 miles away from me! I do have a Brita water pitcher that I use (not often enough), and I've thought about getting a filter for the faucet. Hmm... Maybe I should consider one for the shower too! Thanks for the tip!!

Kathy, how nice of you to spark up this thread again. A couple of years ago I bought a mattress and after it was delivered I decided it was too hard but the store wanted $200 to exchange it the nerve. Anyway I bought one of those memory foam toppers and what a difference it made. So glad yours works for you too. Thanks for the info on the water Ames. I never heard of that brand but I'll definitely look into it. I don't drink the tap water here...it tastes awful. Actually the only thing I use the tap water for is rinsing off the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher I only drink and cook with bottled water and pretty much only buy Poland Spring. And that alkaline vs acid stuff is very interesting. Okay, now for my recommendation. I recently bought a Swiffer Wetjet. I love it. It works great on the floors (that aren't carpeted ) So much better than using a mop and bucket which is what I've done for years. And the cleaning solution comes in different scents. Leaves a nice fresh smell and does a great job.
