Yes, I know I made a post in the New Movie Reviews thread but I think this movie needs its own thread as well.
I have to say that Ironman was not one of the Marvel Comics I read while growing up. I was into Batman, The Fantastic Four and Green Arrow as well as the Justice League. Batman, Superman, Spiderman and the Fantasic Four have all been made into major motion pictures with at least one if not more sequels. Some of the movies have done justice to the original comics and some haven't but I've enjoyed the ones I've seen of those. It also helps in superhero movies to have a good looking lead actor as the star (or villian in the case of the FF and Julian McMahon). When I first saw the preview of Ironman back in December I couldn't figure out who that sexy guy with the goatee was. It was a couple months til I saw the buzz on it for me to find out it was Robert Downey, Jr. The last thing I saw him in that I really liked was as the doomed friend in Less Than Zero. I hadn't really paid much attention to his acting since and I kinda stopped following his career when he got in trouble. But, WOW, he's mad a comeback with a BANG!!!!! I look forward to seeing the sequal (sequals) of this one. This a movie that both males and females will enjoy. Plenty of action for the guys and anticipation of future storylines between Tony and Ms. Potts, Tony's assistant. You'll also love his little robot helpers in the workshop. They are just too cute. And those of you who are Jeff Bridges fans will HATE his character in this movie...it broke my heart to see him playing such a baddie but he did so well.
Anyway, if you've got nothing better to do and want to kill a couple hours at a movie, make sure you go see Ironman. I can see why it has been the #1 movie two weeks in a row.

Tony Stark is Iron Man Iron Man, the armor clad tragic hero is Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark. Son of Howard Anthony Stark and Maria Collins Carbonell Stark, and heir to their high-tech weapons research and development company Stark Industries. A born genius, Tony entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology undergraduate program at age 15 and graduated with a Masters in electrical engineering. By age 21 Tony gain control of his deceased parents company which had been held in trust for him by the chairman of Stark Industries, Obadiah Stane. Much like all of Marvels other characters, Iron Man/Tony Stark is as human as they come. With a penchant for women, booze and partying he defines the "classy" life of the billionaire playboy. Though, much like everyone involved in scientific fields, Tony throws himself into his projects and isolates himself from others. Not to say that he has no friends, but they are few and far between. Amongst them is his assistant Virginia "Pepper" Potts and his military liaison and long-time friend James "Rhody" Rhodes. I just wanted to bring over some special Robert Downey Jr BLING Needed to spice it up a bit... #thud# Heres a pic of Jeff Bridges Gweyneth Paltrow Terrence Howard I had to save my favorite for last....

Reopening this thread because in just one short week and a few days the DVD release of IRONMAN hits the stores. Yup, September 30th. I intend to get the Ultimate Edition with 2 discs and a bonus comic book. Here's the description listed at the WalMart site if I wanted to preorder it:
The following content was provided by the publisher.
Exclusive includes "Iron Man" Ultimate Edition and Fan Boy Comic Book. Suit up for action with Robert Downey Jr. in the ultimate adventure movie you've been waiting for, "Iron Man"! When jet-setting genius-industrialist Tony Stark is captured in enemy territory, he builds a high-tech suit of armor to escape. Now, he's on a mission to save the world as a hero who's built, not born, to be unlike any other. Co-starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges, it's a fantastic, high-flying journey that is "hugely entertaining" (Joe Morgenstern, The Wall Street Journal).
Featurettes: "The Journey Begins"; "The Suit That Makes The Iron Man"; "Walk Of Destruction"; "Grounded In Reality"; "Beneath The Armor"; "It's All In The Details"; "A Good Story, Well Told"; "Origins"; "Friends & Foe"; "The Definitive 'Iron Man'"; "Demon In A Bottle"; "Extremis And Beyond"; "Ultimate 'Iron Man'"; "Wired: The Visual Effects Of 'Iron Man'" and "The Actor's Process"; Robert Downey Jr. Screen Test; Easter Eggs, Behind The Scenes Featurette, Deleted Scenes, Extended Scenes.
Now the Easter Eggs mention has me curious and I so hope they give us the directions on how to access them cos Duran Duran certainly didn't on their greatest hits DVD. I had to search and search for the directions but finally was able to find them so now I've seen all the Easter Eggs on that DVD set. Here's hoping Iron Man is easier to do.
Can't wait for this movie... and it's also payday so wahoo...I'm gonna be watching RDJr...probably have to take a day off work since I'll have to watch it before DWTS comes on that night.
