#thcongratulations# Michael Phelps and the Men's 4 x 200 Freestyle Relay Team!!! GOLD!!! And... #thcongratulations# Michael Phelps for another GOLD in the 200 Butterfly!!! History has been made tonight!!! #th28-1# #th28-1# #th28-1# And...there is so much drama at the Women's Gymnastics competition!! The Amercian team is hanging right in there with the team from China for the GOLD!! I have to say it. There is NO way some of those girls from China are 16 years old. That's cheating to me. If the rule says you have to turn 16 in the calendar year of the Olympics then follow the rules. The other countries do. Or, like Bela Karolye says...get rid of the rule that you KNOW is going to be broken. Just because the country is hosting the Olympics doesn't give them the right to break the rules and falsify the passports of those young girls. Just get rid of the silly rule. Those girls are obviously talented enough to compete and win. They're sensational. But, tell the truth about their ages.

How cool they have all the videos! I've missed a lot of the Olympics so far, so am glad there's a way to see the events. Thanks, Cammy!

#omg# Nancy that is a fantastic picture, yes...definitely hot bods!!!
And I agree with you about the Chinese gymnasts...that's really wrong. Congratulations to them on winning the gold though.
And even bigger #thcongratulations# to the U.S. girls for hanging in there and winning the silver. I could have cried along with them watching those few tense moments but they deserve a lot of credit. #goodjobsign-1#
Can't leave out the biggest congrats to Michael Phelps and the rest of the relay team. Those boys are breaking world and olympic records every stroke of the way #punten#

My 16 year old son and I were amazed. He said hwo old do you think those chinese gymansts are. I told him I would be amazed if they were even 13. Female gymknasts peak so young, I think it is silly that they have to be 16 to compete but rules are rules and I think the Chinese may have cheated on the gals passports. The girls were very talented-props to them. The thinkg that makes me sad about the Olympic games so far in china. The chinese diver who wanted to go home -the parents receive money formt eh gonvernment for her to be in the program and the family told her to stay in the program. Maybe the family wants the child to have a bright future, but I could not tell a child who wants to grow up at home with me not to come back American children too move to other areas away from home to train and pursue the Olympic dream and sometimes on parent comes with them. That is all well and good but really a child only has one childhood and so few years to live with their family. I hope latrer the ones that didn't make the games won't regret what they missed. The other thing that made me sad is the singer in the opening. One girl is famous and cute and can't sing. The other is " a bit chubby and has teeth that aren't perfect" but sings like an angel so they didn't let the homelier child perform on camera and the adorable child lipsynced the song. That is sad for both those children. I bet the "homelier" one would have beamed with pride and radiance to get that chance. China has made some strides but they have a long way to go. Injustices like that happen here too I know but they aren't in the front of my brain right now. I'll vent on those later.

I so agree, MB. When I read about the switch of the little girls, I thought how stupid to be so worried about outward appearances. Stupid stupid stupid. And the dissed girl was so adorable, I think she would have won everyone's heart and NO ONE would have ever thought..oh she isn't beautiful enough. It's just so hard to know that the country is so shallow. Did anyone see the bit on the morning news about the hostesses being trained for the Olympics? They had to fit perfectly into an ideal height, weight and look, to even be considered. To me, most of them had a somewhat westernized look, rather that a real hard-core chinese look. They told the newsguy that he could never be a host because he was too fat, funny but also sad.

Knowing both of you, it's the same for you. How unjust and upsetting.

It's that kind of mind set, along with the need to hold the power, that fosters and continues the atmosphere for human rights issues to continue.

Do you think it is because they are a communist country ? They do their own thing ? They have their own values? I am not saying all their actions are correct, it just does not conform to the other parts of the civilized world. But, some members of the world like to do business with them that they allow such behaviors to happen. Or, they look the other way. Look at Joey Cheek's Visa revocation. I am sure there are still sweat shops in China. They still import Chinese laborers in other parts of the world for cheap pay. What about the 1 child limit ? the abandonment of female babies as they can not carry the family name ......... and more....and more I just have to stop.
However, as a whole the chinese culture, I am sure have a role in this. I just have to respect their difference with me.

Cammy, I'm with you #fingerscrossed# for Michael Phelps too. I know he can do it! #cheer#
Is anyone watching beach volleyball? The game shown last night between Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh against the Belgium team was a real nail biter. Our girls won but it was so close there for a few rounds...very exciting. #th28-1#

That race was amazing! The way Michael Phelps took an extra stroke and pushed it THROUGH the wall was the difference. Winning by one one-hundredth of a second - WOW! It didn't look like he was going to do it halfway through the race. He came on so strong. Congrats to Michael Phelps and the other medal winners! Just competing in the Olympics is such an achievement.
