That race was amazing! The way Michael Phelps took an extra stroke and pushed it THROUGH the wall was the difference. Winning by one one-hundredth of a second - WOW! It didn't look like he was going to do it halfway through the race. He came on so strong. Congrats to Michael Phelps and the other medal winners! Just competing in the Olympics is such an achievement. You are so right Kay. What a race! I thought my heart was going to pound right out of my chest. And all I can say is #thcongratulations# #thWahoooo# #th28-1# #thyahoo# #thyourock# #punten# #thblissysmile# #bfantastic1wp7ct-1# #thhappy096# Turkey's Elvan Abeylegesse just won the silver medal in the women's 10,000 meter run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #thcongratulations# Nancy, is Cengiz watching with you?

Yep. We thought she might be able to hang on for the gold, but she was leading for so much of the race, and the woman who won was just lurking right behind her and we knew she'd make her move. He's happy. Turkey has three medals now!! That's pretty good for them!! This one. A silver in Weight Lifting and a bronze in greco-roman wrestling. Did I ever tell you guys about the time we were in Antalya, Turkey on vacation and we went to a tavern one night and we saw these two really tiny men who I instantly recognized? I saw them and said to Cengiz...I know those guys...but how? Turns out they were the weighlifters known as the 'pocket hercules', Naim Süleymanoðlu who won gold medals in the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics, and Halil Mutlu, who won the gold in 1996, 2000 and 2004!!! We got pictures taken with them...but our friend who took the picture cut part of Cengiz's head out of the pic because she wanted to be sure to get them in the pic. That's how short they were. #rofl1# How funny is that? My first time in Turkey and we randomnly run into the Olympic medalists!! I think they are the most famous athletes in Turkey.

The winners of the medals were all so cute...so excited and happy to get a medal!!!! The winner...so amazing, and he went straight to his mom, lol!!! I wanna know why the runners/sprinters let up at the end of their races before they cross the line. The winner did that...and of course he was going to win...but I bet his time would have been even faster if he hadn't 'let up'. I've seen them do this in the qualifying heats too. It's baffling because you'd think they'd learn not to let up until they've crossed that finish line. Maybe it's just bad habits...but it seems like a no brainer to me. Don't stop pushin' it until you've crossed that finish line.

Congrats to Aaron Piersol, Brendan Hansen, Michael Phelps and Jason Lezak! What a race! They said Brendan told Michael's mom he was going to be ready for the race - that was sweet. They all were amazing. And 8 golds for Phelps.....that's mind-boggling.
I was so hoping that Dara Torres would get an individual gold, especially because they said she was the fastest swimmer in the race, but getting a silver and missing a gold by only 1/100th of a second is excellent. She's an inspiration at 41. It was so cool what she said she'd tell her 2-year-old daughter about the Olympic experience (after she was asked the question) - "don't put an age limit on your dreams." I'm really happy for Britta from Germany, who won the gold. She seemed to glow on the medal stand. And Congrats to the Aussie women on the relay victory! They swam a great race. The U.S. women did really well, and Dara swam a faster split, but there was just a little too much distance to cover. Hats off to all the competitors.
Cheryl, your graphics are so cool! And the photo is awesome.

#thcongratulations# to Shawn Johnson for winning the gold on the balance beam. She is so adorable and I'm so happy for her that she's going home with a gold.
#thcongratulations# also to Jonathan Horton for taking the silver in the men's high bar. He so deserved that.
