MB-Donna and I walked from Broome Street to the Midnight Cafe on Lafayette in the evening of the night we got to NYC and walked back to the hotel, arriving back there at about 8 p.m. I don't know about Donna but I know I didn't feel threatened by the walk... of course it wasn't the safe feeling I got in Chicago but what would be, LOL. Eight Mile is only a couple blocks from there. I would think there would be safety in numbers. I'm still trying to find a way to afford a show. It would mean I would have to arrive probably on Tuesday in order to be able to pick up Donna the day before the show and stay over the night after in order not to be driving home again at night like I did in January.

I wonder how early "early" is, and how long the evening will last. I have no idea what 'very late' means.

I wonder how early "early" is, and how long the evening will last. I have no idea what 'very late' means. The guy at Mile Creek emailed me back again and told me that "early" meant 6 pm. But he says he will only reserve a table if we are having dinner there - which of course I would do because I wouldn't feel right not going and having something to eat, you know? So the earliest I could even get there is 8 pm so I don't know how that would even work. I would have to leave at the latest by 10:15 pm so I'm not sure if it's worth it to go there for two hours...but we'll see.

I hope you can work it out...no way to leave work a little early? My supervisor will not let me leave early - I could switch times with my coworker and get out at 4pm (instead of 4:30) and get the 4:50pm train which gets me in at 6:30pm. So that could work. It's just so much rushing around. Wendy and I will have to see.

Life can get complicated when you have to work!!!! I have been so lucky that I have co-workers that are willing to help out when I need time off. As for now, the only time I would be able to go to NYC would be for the March 12 show.

If I knew different, I would have booked for the Queen Spectacular, lol. This is the type of thing that makes me wish I had an air miles credit card.

That's about what it would have cost just me to come to London for about the same time for Bournmouth in May. I'll be lucky to be able to make one of the 8 Mile Creek shows (most likely the one on March 12). I've still got a few different angles to play so I'm not giving up on 8 Mile Creek yet. And I'd be back in NYC...this time in the area longer than two nights, LOL. I'm still trying to figure out how I can get there in order to be able to pick Donna up at the airport the day before the show since it's a 10 hour or so drive up for me. I guess if I left at 3 a.m and the plane didn't get in til after 3 in the afternoon (at Newark) I'd be able to do it then I'd just go back to the hotel and die! LOL. If this works out and peeps wouldn't have a problem staying in Seacacus, NJ (across the river from NYC) at the Red Roof Inn I might be able to do ferry duty. My car holds 5 or 4 if I don't get to the hotel in time to drop off Nigel. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I WILL NOT drive in NYC. Not only don't I trust the crazy drivers there (no insult to Cheryl who is a fantastic driver in NYC) but I don't know that my car would be safe parked on the street and it's all I got to transport me, LOL.

Is that through British Airways? When I purchased my tickets to London, I think round trip cost a little more than $500 - but that was during this special promotion that we had to purchase by Jan 29. If I didn't purchase it, round trip would be at least $900.

And it also depends on which airport you fly out of and into... at least that's what it looked like to me when I was wishful thinking/checking prices after Laurie's special promotion time.

Wanda, if you stay in NJ, then won't it cost a lot to get back and forth to the city, or is the difference in room rates that much less in NJ??? Buses and subways don't always run all hours, and taxi's are $$$. Not bad for once in, once out though, especially when sharing the ride. I think it's about $40 to LaGuardia, and $50 to JFK...just to compare mileage costs. I'm not sure I'd want to drive in NY either...although I didn't mind driving in Chicago....I had memorized the map, so knew where to go.

The Red Roof Inn in Seacaucus (Meadowlands/Xanadu (NYC)#150 is 5 miles from NYC and states public transportation is available to NYC (I'm gonna send and inquiry to see if I can find out more info). I'll need to go online to see what the room rates are cos I know they're cheaper during the week than on Friday and Saturdy. Their All-Inclusive King rooms have FREE wi-fi AND FREE Long distance as well as a microwave and mini fridge in those rooms. This Red Roof Inn is 3 stories, has its own laundry room and a marina behind it. You can look down the River toward NYC and see the Crowne Plaza Hotel one direction and The Meadowlands the other. I think the rooms run less than $100 a night but I have to check. It may even be cheaper with AAA or AARP. The hotel is 10 miles from Newark Airport, 15 from LaGuardia and 20 from JFK. I'll do some checking tomorrow evening and see what else I can find out. Too bad we don't need 10 or more rooms so we could get a group discount, LOL.
