Emily, I would assume it is true since there have been oodles of things posted in Australia about it as well as in Canada. It truly is un-Fortune-ate. Not that I was ever a fan of his but he lasted longer with them than I thought he would but not as long as I expected. I thought he'd be with them as long as Jon Stevens was. Kinda sad that they didn't take advantage of his songwriting to do more than one album with him.

It must be true... it is posted on different news sites as well as blogs. Such a waste, I hope he can clean himself up. I hate to see someone get the brass ring and then throw it away.

After I had a chance to sit and think about it I'm surprised that it took this long for JD's sacking to be made public. JD said he was with them for 23 months. He joined in September 2005 and 23 months would have made it sometime in August 2007. I can't believe the band waited nearly a year and a half to make it known... wonder what they had up their sleeve with finally confirming it. They've got to have something they think will benefit them for them to let that info out...Or maybe they were trying to do something to prevent JD from releasing Death of a Motivational Speaker. Hmm...I don't trust INXS (Kirk and Tim) any further than I could throw either one of them. I hope JD has a good lawyer is all I can say.

IIRC, the prize was only 1 year promised to the winner. So there may be no legal recourse. In any event, he did make tons of fans and should do fine as a solo artist.

The reason I said I hoped he had a good lawyer would be to get his portion of any royalties that might still come in from Switch. I know they wouldn't be much but Kirk and Tim have a way of twisting what is agreed to around to benefiting them and not the person who was part of the agreement. It happened after Michael died when his survivors tried to get the proceeds from his time with the band. The refused to give one cent of Michael's portion to Paula and Tiger or to Michael's father.

That is so rude! Michael was the main reason for their success. Lead singer/personality/song creation. He was all of that, and his heir deserved his share.

They said that Michael left the band therefore his heirs did not deserve anything from the band. Michael's personal fortune was tied up in his solo work (and his 'indulgences'). His solo album was being done WHILE he was still a member of INXS with their full knowledge so it wasn't like they'd had a problem with it. His solo work wasn't the type of music INXS could use for group work, it was VERY different. Anyway, I guess you can see why I can't stand those two. Jon was Michael's roommate in Hong Kong for 6 years and Andrew was his songwriting partner the entire time they were in the band together. Andrew was the hardest hit by Michael's death. I think it still affected him since nothing he wrote for Switch sounded any different than the stuff he had done 10 years before except the couple of songs he and JD worked on together. I hope they finally realize that Michael was the reason for their success and leave it at that. I'll get off my soapbox now.

Hey! ok, I had to weigh in here . . . from what JD said, he has gotten royalties on the album and tour but as 1/6 of the band . . . and the album etc didn;t exactly set the world on fire. he said his last royalty check bought himself and an interviewer the beers he brought in to them . . . #lol# from what chris Murphy, who is INXSUX press manager, and resident wanker #ranting2# , said JD was hired for 2 years as a contracted employee . . .not exactly the "he is our new brother" BS that the band spewed at us, is it??? #ranting2# but, yeah, hon, JD is an amazing talent and he will be just fine . . .he does have alot of new fans, like me! hehe

All of the Rockstars have had a rough go of it, even the winners. They are all tough as nails, and this little setback won't keep JD down. He'll rise from the ashes, so to speak.

I had a friend who was a wannabe musician, and actually quite talented, but he said the music business itself will eat you alive. they are tough as nails, aren;t they, and I'm so glad to see Mig and JD surviving and, hopefully thriving! #happy036#
