Jaunty is spot on. We do use a topical to kill fleas. But as a preventative as we have never seen flea dirt on the dogs as yet. So we use a cheap topical. We only had fleas one year at this house, and that was before we had these dogs. But it was a horrible ordeal. We had to bathe the dogs, flea powder them, totally clean and vacuum the house - floors and couches/chairs, wash all the beddings. And then we sprayed not only the dog yard and all around the outside near the house with sevin, but we sprayed the floors and furniture with a flea killer that also killed the eggs and lasted long enough to kill any eggs that managed to hatch. Then I planted fleabane (pennyroyal) all around the dogyard as it is supposed to repel fleas and I figured the dogs would walk and roll in it, and that would help, too. It was a royal pain, but it worked. We've seen nary a flea since then! Not even on cats. Ames, since you are in Florida, it's gonna be a year round battle, do spend the money on the best stuff, it's worth it. With our little dogs we used something that did fleas as well as heartworm, all in one chewable thing-prolly the sentinel that Jaunty mentioned.

Um, could you put up a bigger pic? I know there is a weird thing about paint and pinto. A pinto is a paint, but paints aren't necessarily a pinto, or something like that. Soooo, can you explain the difference between pinto and paint?

But, for the life of me, I don't really know why the difference. I do know that the baby's dad was a (oh crap, my mind went blank... the large beautiful white horse with spots --- Jaunty, help me)

Very Good Toni you know your stuff #thhappy096#
To answer your question Toni
bloodlines.
While most Paints can be double registered as Stock or Hunter type Pintos, the Pinto Horse Association (PtHA) also allows for the registration of miniature horses, ponies, and horses derived from other breed crosses, such as Arabian, Morgan, Saddlebred, and Tennessee Walking Horse, to name a few. In essence, the Pinto horse is a color breed in contrast to most other breeds which are defined by their genetic ancestry.

Soooooo, besides parantage (genes) a Pinto doesn't have any specific breed characteristics other than color? Are there any breed specific physical characteristics for Paints?
